Wondering about classes (second classes)

Hi everyone. Deciding to drop by and try this game out while I wait for Aion.

I'm wondering about the second classes and wondering if anyone who knows about foreign versions of the game can tell me more about.

I'm interested in the archer, mage, and rogue. I generally lean toward mage in an MMO but I like damage and support (debuffs and stuff, not healing). I am not interested at all in the warrior monk or priest.

Now I want to know mainly about the secondary classes, not the first ones. I have my eyes on the sniper, beastmaster, elementalist, summoner, assassin, and trapper. Yes all of them. I want to know how they play out in the game so I don't make bad early decisions. In Aion I plan to be a spiritmaster so summoner looks really appealing to me, but I feel like they probably wouldn't be very good in PvP, or are they?

-What kind of abilities do the summoners have that elementalists don't (besides summoning) if any?
-What is the summoner's role in group PvP and group PvE?

And then I'm also interested in the assassin and the trapper, but I have questions.

-Is the assassin any good at solo PvE?
-What is the assassin's role in group PvE?
-Are the traps any good? What kinds of things do they do and are they useful in both PvP and PvE?
-What do I lose if I pick trapper over assassin?

Lastly the archer if the other two fail.

-Are arrows infinite?
-If not, are there different types of arrows?
-What is the role of sniper vs beastmaster in group PvP and group PvE?
-Sniper any good at solo PvE?

Final wrapping up questions:

-Based on the classes I outlined, what is the best solo PvE'er?
-What is the most sought-after group PvP'er?
-The most sought-after group PvE'er?
-The most complex in terms of the amount of skills you have to use?
-Which levels the fastest in general?

Lv1 is as fastest in general, but thats just normal.
PvE would be Paladin i suppose. PvP Warrior maybe. I dont really know this kind of games.

Elementalist Skills:
Stone WaveAttack 30 Summon three stone pillars to block enemies.
Storm Attack 33 Summon a powerful storm to blow away enemies.
Fire Wall Attack 37 Summon a fire wall to block enemies.
Earthquake Attack 41 A strong magic attack that hits all nearby enemies.
Blizzard Attack 49 Sharp icicles rain in front of you.

Summoner Skills:
Fairy Attack Attack 30 Shoots summoned elemental fairies at an enemy.
Summon Wind Fairy Attack/Self 30 Summons a wind fairy to increase wind attack power.
Summon Water Fairy Attack/Self 33 Summon a water fairy to increase water elemental attack power.
Summon Fire Fairy Attack/Self 37 Call a fire fairy to power up fire attacks.
Summon Earth Fairy Attack/Self 41 Calls a earth fairy to power up earth attacks.
Meteor Attack 49 Summon a meteor to an area in front of you.

Well, Elementalist focus on Elemental skills and are LOADEEED with AoEs, I believe they have less MP consumption than Summoners, who use pets and have a very strong AoE (meteor).

-What is the summoner's role in group PvP and group PvE?
Ranged DPS, letting their pets in head-first, spamming AoEs on groups of enemies. Covering Melee DPSers in the midst of combat.


-Is the assassin any good at solo PvE?
-What is the assassin's role in group PvE?
-Are the traps any good? What kinds of things do they do and are they useful in both PvP and PvE?
-What do I lose if I pick trapper over assassin?

1. Assassins are... okay in PvE, they're really not the best, in fact, I'd probably put them on the list as the worst in PvE.

2. Assassin's role in group PvE? Melee DPS.

3. Traps are VERY useful in both situations, bombs can be useful towards taking out Priests who follow on direction on a map 24/7. Or a boss who needs to be taken out quickly. There's snares for a Trapper to pop out of no where, stun, poison, and combo, they even have the chance to run away if their opponent is snared.

4. By going with Trapper, you might lose some HP bonuses now and then, an "Assassination" skill, and an extra skill or two, not really that important, if you ask me.

-Are arrows infinite?

1. No, you buy arrows for 1 Gold each.
2. I think so, I forgot. The last time I checked, there was just one plain arrow.
3. Sniper role - Lots of Ranged DPS, some AoEs now and there, isolate tanking classes and annoy them.
4. Beastmaster Role - Letting their pets take most of the hits, lots of Ranged DPS, an AoE, isolate magic classes and annoy them.
5. The Sniper is better in terms of Group PvE, considering that if they're behind a warrior, they can spam their poison/elemental arrows, and use mobbing AoEs.

-Based on the classes I outlined, what is the best solo PvE'er?
-What is the most sought-after group PvP'er?
-The most sought-after group PvE'er?
-The most complex in terms of the amount of skills you have to use?
-Which levels the fastest in general?

1. Elementalist and Sniper (in certain situations)
2. Assassin and Trapper
3. Probably the Elementalist...
4. Trapper/Beastmaster
5. Mages start at slow at the beginning of the game, so do assassins and archers.

But in terms of leveling, I'd have to say Mages.

Also can trappers stealth or anything?

A good balance of PvE and PvP, in my opinion, would be Elementalist. And yer', summons fight for you too. But if you're looking for an actual PET, with health, basic attacks, skills, etc. I'd recommend the Beastmaster class, this is their skills:

The cost it takes to make summon the monster turns out being their HP and MP pool, for example, for the Cutephant, it costs 165 HP and 47 MP to summon it, which will be taken away from you. Once summoned, the Cutephant has 165HP and 47MP.

Yep, and second classes feel like they come in late. You get your second job after a tedious job quest at level 30, it costs 1000 Victy and Gold (Victy and Reputation come from participating in the battlefield). Trappers and Assassins can both stealth, in fact, you get the Hide skill at level 13 from the first job, the Rogue.

Can you briefly explain how stealth works, how it's detected, does it run out, cost anything, cooldown?

I'm not that clear on Stealth, but I know that it has an MP cost, and it will be gone once the Rogue attacks, I think there's a short cooldown. It's EXTREMELY crucial in PvP for Rogues, considering they have the shortest melee range. (daggers are small, but fast)

-You can stealth away from a monster while it's attacking you
-You can stay in stealth forever if you don't attack

I guess those would be determining factors on if I pick trapper over elementalist.

I guess I'll be playing mage and rogue in beta and see how they are.

Don't count on this answer, but I think if you stealth and a monster attacks you directly after turning on Stealth, you're revealed.

To the second answer, I'm frankly not sure. I would think so if there isn't a Mana cost over time.
