I was reading through a few of the threads but I couldn't find what I was looking for. What is everyone's recommended class/build? I want to have the best start I can. I'd rather have a class that doesn't solo all the time. Maybe a mage-type? Not sure. Please give me your input. Thanks!

Well, each class has their on build. Any class can party and most do. That's more dependant on the nature of the player. If you like the magic user, long range type go for mage. Use the level up list in the the apprentice section to track your gear and put power in when you need it. Otherwise put your stat points in int. when you start. You can read build threads in that section to determine if you want to be a pure int mage or want to add men.

hi there! welcome to the game. ok i make a simple summary below from what i know.

Squire/knight
- melee fighter
- they have the nice dmg and tanker
- at lvl's like 9x, they could AoE at library and get rich super fast but their uber gears are way most expensive and rare
- needed in party cos of superior def

Scout/Archer
- i consider this as the 2nd dmg dealers after mage
- ranged and strong
- low hp and def is the downside
- they have those ailment status skills to cover up their def
- cant handle alot of mob at 1 time
- can solo very well

Mage/Wizard
- ultimate dmg dealers
- low hp and low def
- alot of AoE skills and super useful at high lvl
- u need to kite alot and u (on par with scout) can fight high lvl mobs cos u are ranged
- equipment is rather cheap

Disciple/Templar
- melee class
- semi tanker as they can buff themselves with useful buff and tank at same time
- they have the Heal Over Time (HoT) skills that gives them the edge to fight higher lvl mobs (like light pink mobs)
- they party well with any character
- they miss quite a few which i think is a downside but party a neophyte could cover the downside^^

Cleric/Priest
- healer and buffer
- u dont do well in solo lvl-ing but at higher lvl, u are needed for the useful buff (to non SC users)
- u got 2 have the determination of steel to solo after lvl 40 cos it's hard but rewarding if u love to heal and help ppl

Rogue/Assasin
- dodge masters
- melee and their main advantage is high agi which means u burn less hp pots but more mp pots
- very cool if u like to dodge alot from mob atks
- they can tank but cant tank that well compared to knight/squire but it all depends on eq
- they have those poison skills (yeah like what every game rogue/thief/assasin class has) which does Damage Over Time (DoT)

hope this helps..

I simply love how the Clerics/Priests get barely mentioned. Has Spark Cash really one-upped us? Have we become obsolete? :(

if u got money 2 spend on SC then well Horror Mask + Cape of Love = bye bye cleric.

however if u r a non SC user like me, then it's always welcome an aco or healer in a small party but, sry to say i prefer an atker than a healer (unless the healer like me just spam Illusion)

it depends but i would say i only need a healer after lvl 5x or 6x when AoE cos lower lvl we can always use the tiny pots (if u got ALOT of money to spend)

just me thou..

*p/s i explained less bout healer cos..wat's healer? they are the one who heals and not much of atk (but 1 thing i like is they can accompany me and share jokes or talks during lvl-ing. tht's wat most important^^)

I didn't mention healer because he asked about mage. I don't have much trouble getting parties if I go to the right area, and most of the people I have dealt with throughout my time on sos have been sparkcash users equiped with cape, horror mask, defense mask and sc pots. Those items let people solo higher level maps, but most people want to do the highest level map they can, that's what healers are for.

in fact, if u dont use sc, dont even bother comparing sc with non sc user. the differences are big. the most important is u enjoy the game.

tht's what matter most.

@ubssss
bout mage, they are glass cannon. super strong but super fragile. however with a healer, they can actually duo with a healer to AoE (saw it on video ade by anoobis if i not mistaken - if i quoted wrong sry ya!). it all boils down to your personal playing style..
