I had that question too. According to people whom I had asked they said that it does make a difference. So when you change your orange mushroom to the next one(I can't remember the next colour) apparently it should heal more.
I don't know if it's true. But that's what I had heard ;) But it's fun getting to change the colour of your house, so it's still worth buying them at some point :) I like the blue one the best :P but I use the light pink one since it should heal faster.

the lvl50 house (blue) heals 3.8% / second
the lvl25 (is it 25?) (red) heals 2% /second
the lvl1 (orange) heals 1.5% / second


For Sp:-

lvl70 4% / second
lvl50 3.5% / second
lvl25 2% / second
lvl1 1.6% / second
