How to gather Wood Pieces so i can get Mining Skill .

Herb Garden.
Rest is self-explanatory, sorta, if you have an IQ over 100. =P
Seriously, all you have to do is ask for the Herb Garden, one in Ozi.

1. From Popola Village take the Marble Mountain portal to Ozi Village.
2. Find the Herb Mine (it is to the far right of the screen) and enter.
3. There is a Shovel Merchant by the entrance of the Herb Mine, purchase some crude shovels from him (I think they cost 20 each - I usually buy in lots of 5).
4. Stand in front of a common herb shrub until the little mining icon appears by your character.
5. Double click on one of the shovels in your inventory to mine.

Wood is one of the random items you receive from mining. If you don't get one before using up all your shovels, just buy some more. I think it took me about 15 shovels before I found enough wood, but I think it's just luck.

Yep, but I think it's a random chance. I don't know if this affects anything but what I usually do is jump around different nodes and once I find one that gives me what I want, I stay on that node until it stops giving me what I want (eg wood).
