Question about skills from a new player

Hi all,
I'm brand new to this game and had a few questions to ask about skills. I believe you have to purchase skills( from looking at strategywiki) so if this is true, is there any limit to how many skills you can have? If not, is there anything that makes character skill builds, not stats, any different from another of the same class? Thx in advance for any answers you can provide.

To able to buy skills, you need gold and must reach the level requirement, then every few levels or so an upgrade would be availible for a skill thats at level 1.

1969 is a glitch.
