Ice Bolt VS. Ice Blast

Someone help me lol ><
I just got ice blast a few levels ago.. and i need to know if its worth using for its dmg/effect/casting time.
It has long casting time so i know not to use it in pvp when a fighter is running towards me.. but does it last longer than ice bolt? and does it make the target slower than ice bolt? •~• The description is screwed up on my character and so the Ice Blast skill only tells me the dmg and cooltime when i scroll over it ...

I think it lasts the same time as Ice Bolt effect but Ice Blast definitely makes the target alot slower than Ice Bolt does.
I guess if you don't like getting hit Ice Blast would be good for far away targets or mobs that haven't aggroed you yet as most likely you'd be able to cast it before they come too close to you or in some cases even notice you. If the target is closeby or running towards you Ice Bolt will do to get the slow effect instantly and run away immediately before they get to you. Of course this is assuming the effect connects otherwise ouchies.

ya if a mob is close to you, ice bolt, run + lightning bolt, run + lightning blast (recently fixed yay!) by then you'd get some distance and dmg so go for the kill!

I'm planning on wasting 5 skill points empowering its duration.

According to the wiki Ice Bolt lasts 3 seconds and Ice Blast lasts 5 seconds. I have definately noticed Ice Blast makes them move slower. If you are to empower one I'd go for Ice Blast simply because it can be upgraded and Ice Bolt stops L45.

if you're going to empower use it on a skill to do more dmg to kill the mobs before the effect wears off. also consider this: ice blast -> lightning + whatever else till they get near you -> fear -> keep attacking -> ice blast -> lightning + other attacks

most elite mobs would be dead from this, regular mobs are dead long before. also because how unpredictable fear is, you might take some dmg depending on were the mob is.

Yeah you are right. I meant to say it doesnt stick some of the time.

Ice bolt 08 deals more then ice blast 01. At 02 it will deal more. That's when you switch. After you get fireball and magic burst you wont use ice much anyway. Plus ice is usually a starter skill so the cast time doesn't really make a difference unless they are already coming at you. As for the slow debuff, its pretty much the same either way.
