Intro:

Well I decided to make a fairly basic guide for Archers. Though there aren't all that many effective builds out there for Archers I think it would still be helpful to make a guide for them. I, myself, played an Archer in CB, so I know what's good and what's not. In this guide we will discuss some of the various builds for an Archer. Though I currently won't go to in depth on the second job, this guide will mainly focus on the first job change to Archer and help you through the levels. One good thing to keep in mind about the Archers is they move around a lot, why you ask? Well because they are long range and need to keep that distance to be more effective. Kill your enemy from a distance so they cannot harm you.

Builds:

Well typically builds would be later in the guide, I think it's important to be on of the more important things in a guide, especially in this game. Seeing as how you start building your character from the start and get no chance to re-do your stats it's important to know what you need to have in a build. Though I find set builds dreadfully boring I will give you the more common ones you'll see in successful Archers, but first you need to know the main stats of an Archer. Those are Spr and Dex, though in Beast Masters you may want to add some Int for the fact they use so much but I won't go into that to much here. As an Archer you'll always want Dex as your primary stat, meaning it comes firs and Spr as your secondary stat.

In WS you get 4 stat points to distribute each level. You can put them anywhere you want be here are some of the more effective ways to split up your stat points.

3:1 Dex:Spr Build:

This is quite the common build. This gives you plenty of Dex for raised attack ad some extra health to help you survive monster attacks. Some argue that Archers barely get hit if their played right and that this build only wastes stat points on Spr. Though I see this build a pretty good one for those that aren't quite sure how to play an Archer yet. It will also save you some money on food for healing if you are to get hit.

4 Dex, Pure Dex Build:

This build is all Dex, meaning you maximize your damage output. I believe this is the most common build for Archers. You can kill quicker with this build but you'll have less health then in the previous build. This is a build I would suggest to anyone, though it seems to be more effective with those that know how to use the Archer to it's full potential.

Alternative Builds:

Well you can always make your own costume build. Those are just a few recommended builds. You can always add to Spr as you need it or can cap it off once it reaches a specific number. You don't have to follow these, you can develop your own build if you want, like I did.

Equipment of an Archer

The most important part of an Archer is his bows and arrows, they ALWAYS come first before what they wear. Why? Well what good is your armor if you don't have a bow to attack or arrows to fire? Do you like being a human punching bag to monsters? If your answer is no, then always put your bow and arrows before your armor. I suggest you get the highest lvl bow you can as you lvl, s you can kill faster and higher lvl monsters. Archers move around a lot and attack at a range so your armor and yourself should hardly get touched. That's about all you need to know about an Archers equip is to get the best bow you can and always keep lots of arrows.

I always bought new armor about every other set of it and always carried a few thousand arrows with me and the best bow I could get. Yes it sounds expensive but worry not, if you grind out your lvls you get plenty of money. In low levels it may seem expensive but don't worry once you get past lvl 15 money tends to be easier to come by.

Skills

Now, time to get to skills. You'll always want to get your passive skills when you can. At low levels the passives seem pretty useless but as you get to higher levels their bonuses become quite handy to you. So I suggest buying and upgrading your passives when you can do so. As for active skills well...frankly I hardly ever use them. Again, at low levels the active skills are pretty weak but as they go up they get strong. I hardly ever use them unless I get in a pinch but they are ones I'd suggest getting if you have the extra cash or just want to have some fun with them. But I don't see them as a necessity, at least the first job skills that is. Some may or may not agree with that but that's just my opinion.

Lvls 1-10

Well their isn't much to say about these lvls. You'll just have to do all the quests you can do and get through them. They may seem to be a pain but trust me they will go fast. I would recommend getting the best weapon you can with the highest damage so you can kill quicker and more effectively. Do all the main quests and side quests you can. Or you could just do the main quests and grind the rest of the levels out as I did myself. Also, don't forget to pvp some, it's funner then you think and a great way to burn time if your bored.

Class Change to Archer

Well this is fairly basic you want to get 100 WSP (AKA Vicinity) to buy the class job change license for the first job change. You then need to go speak to the Archer that gives out the class change quest. Her name is Emilia and she's two towns past Ozi Village and in the area you enter from the hut. She'll give you the quest and you'll have to kill 10 Dumpling Pig, obtain 10 Monkey Tail (Get these from any monkey), 5 Monkey Horns (Gained from the monkeys with the horns on their head, Monkey Sergeant and Monkey Lord), and the job change license (Obtained with 100 WSP in the weapon shop of Ozi Village). After you've done all that, return to Emilia and become an Archer.

So you've gone through the class change quest, right? Now you are an archer, I'd suggest getting your bow/arrows first and getting what new equip you can afford and a attack skill if you really want to, though I didn't.

Lvls 10-30

Now, I'd suggest training on monsters with blue or the black boxes around their names, they are the quickest to kill and give you the most exp per kill. I wouldn't stray from them, ever. One thing when your killing is if the monster gets to close, move back away from, your more effective at a range, if the monster hits you, you can't attack, so stay at a range. You'll want to keep an eye out on your arrows remaining, it's a pain to run out mid fight, trust me. Also, if you can, count the amount of arrows it takes to kill the type of monster your fighting and always stop after that number of arrows are sent at the monster. Why you may ask? It's simple if you sent an extra arrow and it hits nothing and you do this for all the monsters it takes to get one level then your losing 100+ arrows, that's 100+ gold. This may not sound like much but think about it this way, you could've taken those arrows and killed 20 more monsters if each monster took 5 hits to kill.

If your getting about 1% per kill that's 20% lost! Now that's a big difference. Now say you factor in the amount of time you take to run to get more arrows when you could've had more if they weren't wasted, that's more time wasted and precious exp lost!

Now, I always grind all my lvls, hardly use quests myself. The reason for this is the fact that quests take up to much time, have to find the monster or item and then get it or kill it and return to accept the reward, this takes to mujch time. I always just get a chat going or a buddy with me and talk and kill, it's more enjoyable that way. These levels should be pretty quick, and then you can advance to your second job. Though to some these levels will be a pain but trust me, they will pay off.

(To be continued...have to get off soon)

Is the effective range the only passive skills or are there others, and does anyone know the mp cost for evasion?

Updated, more added on and corrections. I will periodically be updating this in my spare time to make an effective guide for Archers, right now it's the basics that will get most by.

Enhance concentration is one of those ones that are better if you hit higher honestly. Though at it's second rank up it increases to 5% more damage. If your hitting low your not going to notice any real difference, maybe one or two damage. That's why I recommended only getting the passive skills unless you wanted the others because most active skills suck till you rank them up a bit.
