Honestly, please tell me the benefits and weaknesses of both? I had some great parties when i started but now that mobs aren't dropping as much, being an archer all the items are snagged up by other people.
Also, exp: do you get more or less exp when in a party? If I'm typically out there to lvl up, should i just go solo? And does partying with lower lvls help them lvl up faster, or no?
Just curious...http://i23.tinypic.com/2bco4w.gif

Both have their pluses and minuses. As a archer I think you're high in demand in the later areas of the game. I see a lot of people asking for archers or mages in Uruga and Concealed Prison. If you're not getting drops while grouped, right mouse click on your picture in the upper left. If it doesn't say "Sequential", ask for it. It means the loot will be passed person to person till everyone in the group gets something then it starts over and repeats till its turned off.
As for solo, if you know what you're doing and have the faith you can solo stuff well enough, you can accomplish some quests or levels when finding a group is slow. As a cleric I've found myself soloing a fair bit because groups were full and regular hunting areas were packed with people.

As of right now, I prefer partying. I've met alot of nice people and wish I could party with them again but they never seem to be online at the same time. I've levelled faster, in a party than going it solo but the item distribution thing can get rather iffy, especially when you have a greedy person in your midst.
Another benefit to having parties is that, what they kill gets added to your quest log so if you're trying to kill a particular mob, partying with people who are doing the same quest as you helps. It's also not as monotonous.
Unfortunately, I get suckered into 'Random Party Invites' and I can only blame myself when this happens. If your party is not organized and everyone is running off in all sorts of directions, doing their own thing then you're better off soloing.

from what ive noticed,u do get more exp. in parties simply because the enemies die so much faster, wich more than makes up for the exp. decrease from being in a party.its a great way to get some fast levels, and will save you some hp stones/potions,or if ur a cleric like me,sp tones/potions.i almost always go so solo tho so i dont have to worry bout missing a rare drop :P
one thing i like to do is go out with a trusted friend or 2 and if we get a rare drop and 1 of us needs it,we give it to them and split the costs of it.

Parties are AWESOME compared to soloing. You get quests done much faster, and it's way more fun.

Loot should be Default Share, kinda weird and lame its not, that way if someone makes it Greed to melee you can say hey

i'm not sure, but anyone answer this question: "And does partying with lower lvls help them lvl up faster, or no?" ie. lvl 10 w/ lvl 24

i tried to plvl my sister when she started playing she got the same 1 exp while i was killing kebings as when she was killing slimes all by herself. i usually prefer to solo though. im greedy i want all the drops. i want all the mats. i want all the exp. besides i think i play on the worlds slowest computer and i hate it when i lag in a party i get everyone killed

Solo is good if you want to make money.
Partying is good if you want to gain exp.
I prefer to solo, most people I party with just tend to slow me down.

Partying is fun if the party member knows their role (fighter=tank, cleric=healer, mage, archer=lurer and damage dealer). With a good coordination we could even take out higher lvl mobs with ease.
What I don't like in partying is when someone start to go by him/herself and getting the entire team killed. :D. Kinda remind me of Leeroy Jenkins :p

I solo mostly, though my freind and I usually party up and go adventuring, EXP and Items are shared usually, though EXP is less and item gain is less.
