Tournament of Champions




Well, the amount of amazingly powerful players on apoline has not gone unnoticed. We were the first server to defeat helga, the server with the first guild to defeat helga, we're also the server with some of the biggest mouths about pvp. And with due cause, by all measurements apoline is the most powerful server. Well now it's time to find the true king/queen of our server.





I propose a Pvp tournament, similar to what waltimore had planned a while back, but with more realistic rules and much, much better prizes.





The tournament dates:





there will be four tournaments this year (loosely dated):





1. march 7





2. june 6





3. august 15





4. october 24





The winners of these (only first place) will then face each other in a round-robin type tournament over christmas. Anyone over level 75 may enter the tournaments, and of course players me re-enroll for all four if they so desire.





The Pvp God





it can well be agreed that the player who wins this final Christmas tournament deserves and will therefore receive ultimate pvp bragging rights, in addition to a large victor's purse. Should we have one person win all four tournaments, then we will have grounds to proclaim an undisputed pvp god.





The stakes





it would be absolutely pointless to try and find the pvp god of apoline without offering godly rewards. The reward system may seem a little bit slanted, but that's because we are looking for champions, and so nothing short of a winner-takes-all format should go. Here's how it breaks down:


First place: premium beauty shop coupon (or similarily priced Cash Shop item(S)), and the victor's share of 50% of the entrance fee silver.

Second place: 500silver or 25% of the entrance fee (whichever is larger).

third place and lower: pat on back. Better luck next time.




First through third place will also receive (optional) animated commemorative forum signatures denoting their place in the tournament and what tournament they won (ie. 1st place of the march tournament).





Registration:





keeping track of this thing could be a bear, so we'd like to ask everyone who wishes to enter the tournament to leave a post here with an ign and level.





There will be a registration fee of 1gold, this is not optional but if you feel as though you should enter but can't make the fee then pm me because there are people willing to sponsor you.


Payment is expected to be made on the day of the event, refunds may be granted if you can't fight, withdrawl from tournament however will not get your gold back, serious competitors only- this is after all apoline, the greatest and most powerful server, so don't be a slap.





Once you have registered, someone from woosh will contact you via pm or whisper in-game to confirm your participation, and to find out which time zone you're in so we can schedule your events accordingly. The actual pvp schedule will not be posted until three days before the event.





If for some reason you must withdraw after rsvping your slot, please pm me or whoever contacted you from woosh and delete your registration post from this thread.

Gameplay rules:




this is how the tournament will be run, obviously they aren't perfected so please pm me if you feel anything should be different or if the rules are missing something.




1. no cash shop goods, with the sole exception of extenders. To enforce the integrity of this rule, we ask that players take screen shots immediately before and after the fight. In the screenshot please open up the kq list, your timed-item, and a member of woosh waving at the camera. If you have multiple pages of timed items, you must take a ss of every single page. After the match you will pm us the screenies and we'll look through to make sure there was no foul play. Breaking this rule is grounds for disqualification and no refund.




2. no potions. First time offense will be a warning. The match will be paused your opponent will be allowed to rest until healed, and the match will resume. Second time is dq, period; we're looking for the pvp god, not a slap who can't keep his/her hotkeys in order.




3. no parties, simply put- it's a one versus one tournament, no party buffs, outside heals etc.




4. absolutely no poor sportsmanship. Read carefully: bragging is ok, even a must if you are that type, negativity however will not be tolerated, period. You will be dqed from the event and no mention of you will be made in the congratulatory event thread, essentially poor sports will be forgotten.




Any and all rules are at the sole discretion of those providing this tournament, we are more than open to hearing suggestions on them and they can be changed at any time with only a update-bump post in this thread.

This is a good idea but unfortunately it would be difficult to get a full list of worthy participants because I think the elite players rather have private 1v1s without a lot of spectacle. It would be a good idea if you manage to pull it off though. :cool:

being good at pvp is so much more than a classic apoline duel with no stones, pots, or cs items/crit suits. such is a battle of gears, not skill in pvp. dubin is great at dueling, but have you fought any other way against her, or team pvp'ed against her? why is it that traildawg was the best geared 7x fighter of all of apoline, but not a greatest 7x pvper? why was Romance considered the best pvper at 79 cap even though he had a 66 hat and not the greatest gears? gears decide a classic apoline duel, not skill.

-incredible situational awareness
-the ability to take down equal or greater teams with great teamwork and communication.
-the cleric mentality (never or rarely die.)
-people dont have to like you, but they fear you(your username and reputation) in a FBZ enough that they must form parties in order to kill you.
-players that you dont even know fear your presence in a pvp zone, not because of your high level appearance, but because of your name and reputation.

as for this dueling tournament, im NOT in, since i dont agree that being a good duelist automatically makes you a good pvper.

I agree, with most of what you said except for the part involving me o.o; Only time you see me die is usually when I get team by two of the top pvp fighters or a top pvp fighter that is charming, I can usually take most of the 8x fighters that charm against me without me having to charm. If you talk to anyone that has party with me in a war or um a so called battle war in pvp, they'd most likely say I show most of all what you've said above. Well at least I would think they would say o.o, as for gear... lol my gear has never been that great, I just find a decent end stat gear and +9 it. I mean hell, I was rockin a 41end+9 (single stat) helm for the longest time and never moved up from my 37end 19int lv74+9 boots in all of my 7x and above "duels". It's just knowing what skill sets to use against someones skill set they use against you, for "duels" I used more than 3 different types of sets depending on who I was fighting, it's not just about the gear it's how you stack your sets vs your opponets set. And I would say my awareness is very damn good ;o. I can recall one day in bz3, you were waiting for me around a corner with your charms and such (with me having no clue you were there) I saw it in time to deva your deva and be able to hold you off without dying and without potting and without having to charm.

There will be gold not used in prizes, this gold will go into paying for in-game advertisement (thread to appear soon), and hopefully to be able to exchange for the gifts to the winners (if for some reason I lose the $20 I had for the coupons).

I'd like to address this as I see it will come up in the future:

A.) This tournament allows for the use of stones, nothing else. In a duel the entire fight is up to chance- who will crit last. With stones we see who has the best armor/stat build/skill build on apoline, simply put- it's not a duel, it's peer versus peer combat.

I know it's a double post; I'd just like to personally encourage you guys who qualify to enter to do so, this is another chance for Apoline to establish itself as the most progressive, most powerful, and most entertaining Fiesta server.

Winner of the tournament will be able to mount the drama llama and ride around our server as a freakin PvP god lol... btw I think you should enter the tourney and win those CS gifts ^^, instead of watching from the sidelines.

We're working on this, some suggestions on "leveling" the playing field have already been mentioned, I'll list what I've heard below. If you have any further suggestions please let me know :).

Suggestions to fixing the imablance between classes for the tournament:

-Players will start at opposite ends of the field; this will balance out the match for ranged classes versus melee classes so we can see who is better at tactics/has the best stat & skill build.

-If a fight lasts longer than a certain amount of time (maybe 15 minutes), we would restart with nothing but helmets, weapons (includes shields), and accessories. Removing the +9 armor factor might or might not eliminate the infinite cleric duel, we will test this out tonight.

-another suggestion was to keep the times a secret so the FBZ we use won't fill up with specators and cause too much lag. This will be considered as well since lag can affect the server's response time to damage and such (glitched death is prime example).

actually mages have a very good chance considering +9 armor has nothing to do against magical damage. as for this being a long drawn out fight I'm kind of expecting it, I'm a full end fighter and thats how i play to begin with. As for the pvp drama going on. Yes awareness and gear has alot to do with being the best but if you really want to be the best prove you dont have to have more money than the other person to win.
just a thought not a sermon =^P

Well, "L-A-M-E" doesn't really qualify as constructive criticism bl_devil. Perhaps you want this to end before it starts because you don't feel you have a chance to win? ...I'm just hypothesizing of course, but why wouldn't you want to take your capped fighter and instead of trying to close this down, join with it? Help do something great for Apoline and ultimately for the whole Fiesta community, you have the power, not me.

As for the issue of using potions during the match:

We will have multiple "referees" recording the matches, if someone sees something suspicious (ie your HP bar filling without the stone's dust effect) then we'll review the tapes and violators will be disqualified.


But again, stop acting like your the shiz and do something that will be truly epic; last I heard talk was nothing, I'm giving you guys a forum to stand in and set yourselves apart. "pwnage" videos mean nothing when no one else is paying attention and you're busting out $20+ worth of CS goodies, let's see who's got the best armor, stat build, skill build, and game-play knowledge on Apoline.

Absolutely. There will be a sizeable arena area, with penalties for breaking the boundaries, both parties will start at opposite ends of the area and proceed from there.

my archer can hold 117 hp stones at lvl 87 and mages are below 100 i think.

Well, to answer some of your questions. I have no clue what hp stone count on cleric/archer is but fighter cap is like 400+ and mage is 70? lol... Also stone fight... lol my fighter can get up to 1.7k def with just guild buff and axe. So with two cap 8x+9's fighters in stone fight without crit suits, it's pretty much impossible to kill eachother if their gear has decent end in it too (6k axe hp). Also, no BK+9 axe full str fighter can kill a cap cleric that has full +9's with 5.6k~6k+ hp without crit suit and even with crit suit it's a pretty outstanding accomplishment unless they're charming. As for archers... Well... All they can do is run away really, sorry D;. Mage is good for these stone fights but if you have about 700+ m.def with like 5.5k+ hp a BK+9 mage shouldn't be able to kill you if you can use hp stones, especially if they have no crit suit.

Note: This isn't an excuse to why I probably wont be joining, just the facts o.o; but I mean, if you do get this going, hope you have fun and stuffs. Also, I still don't believe you have answered what you're gonna be doing with that extra gold.

And P.S. this whole "pvp god" title is just stupid lol. I believe someone has already said this but, most of the elite pvp'ers in Apo wont even care about this little thing you got going. 'Cause mainly... We already know who's great and who's not in pvp.

To Nana : You never been good at pvp. Your charmed 24/7 , When i met you all those times in abyss/pvp and You 1v1 me , You never been able to kill me. Sorry but its the truth =).

I Got you and charl's fighter last time, and mostly i never lose on a 1v1 with critical suits and stones, But when it comes to No stones / no criticals, Its mostly on whoever have the best gears/luck as i said.
I Never had Godly gears since i play this. but still always been winning duels.
First time i capped. Using only END gears at 79. Fought Heavensnight and JOHNNY555
( Were ones of the godliest figthers back then besides romance ) with critical suits/stones and guess who won? I Did. Its all about skills baby <3.
I find No Stones/Criticals to the people who is scared to show their real skills and rely on whoever have the best gears and luck.

Tournament of Champions




Well, the amount of amazingly powerful players on apoline has not gone unnoticed. We were the first server to defeat helga, the server with the first guild to defeat helga, we're also the server with some of the biggest mouths about pvp. And with due cause, by all measurements apoline is the most powerful server. Well now it's time to find the true king/queen of our server.





I propose a Pvp tournament, similar to what waltimore had planned a while back, but with more realistic rules and much, much better prizes.





The tournament dates:





there will be four tournaments this year (loosely dated):





1. march 7





2. june 6





3. august 15





4. october 24





The winners of these (only first place) will then face each other in a round-robin type tournament over christmas. Anyone over level 75 may enter the tournaments, and of course players me re-enroll for all four if they so desire.





The Pvp God





it can well be agreed that the player who wins this final Christmas tournament deserves and will therefore receive ultimate pvp bragging rights, in addition to a large victor's purse. Should we have one person win all four tournaments, then we will have grounds to proclaim an undisputed pvp god.





The stakes





it would be absolutely pointless to try and find the pvp god of apoline without offering godly rewards. The reward system may seem a little bit slanted, but that's because we are looking for champions, and so nothing short of a winner-takes-all format should go. Here's how it breaks down:


First place: premium beauty shop coupon (or similarily priced Cash Shop item(S)), and the victor's share of 50% of the entrance fee silver.

Second place: 500silver or 25% of the entrance fee (whichever is larger).

third place and lower: pat on back. Better luck next time.




First through third place will also receive (optional) animated commemorative forum signatures denoting their place in the tournament and what tournament they won (ie. 1st place of the march tournament).





Registration:





keeping track of this thing could be a bear, so we'd like to ask everyone who wishes to enter the tournament to leave a post here with an ign and level.





There will be a registration fee of 1gold, this is not optional but if you feel as though you should enter but can't make the fee then pm me because there are people willing to sponsor you.


Payment is expected to be made on the day of the event, refunds may be granted if you can't fight, withdrawl from tournament however will not get your gold back, serious competitors only- this is after all apoline, the greatest and most powerful server, so don't be a slap.





Once you have registered, someone from woosh will contact you via pm or whisper in-game to confirm your participation, and to find out which time zone you're in so we can schedule your events accordingly. The actual pvp schedule will not be posted until three days before the event.





If for some reason you must withdraw after rsvping your slot, please pm me or whoever contacted you from woosh and delete your registration post from this thread.

I don't disagree with anything you said Rukia. Just.. The whole lucky crit thing, it goes both ways. Especially in stone fights with two 8x+9 fighters, it's just who ever can get a lucky full stacking crit set. Don't get me wrong though... I love stone fights, they're my speacialty and super fun to do. =3

I never say this game is not about skill. Lol, and about fighting 1v1 no stones/no suits is about skill too, you need to have the BRAIN how to deal more dmg fast and kill the other player instead of you dying first.
About fighting with stones/suits 1v1, its about luck not totally about skill though,onces u miss stun = die. Not luck Ruki? Lol and if u think you are best, i guess u can handle no stones or stones fight? Not only just stones fight?lol now u think about it :D...
