Is it just me or is this beta insanely laggy? This is my first closed beta test of a game this early in development, but it seems to me to be almost too slow to play. A click to move my character can take 10 or more seconds to register, and sometimes, after those many seconds, my character will move in a completely different direction than I clicked.
Also, I get logged out randomly sometimes and when that happens, it takes many tries to get successfully logged back in. Are these unique problems or are others having them as well? Are they fixable?

Hahaha I just killed something with another character, it dropped something, I clicked on it repeatedly, nothing happened. I watched him/her kill something else, loot that monster, come back and loot the monster we had killed (I was still standing right next to it trying to pick up the loot) before it registered picking the item up for me. ...

*bumps* Come on people. I have confirmation on another board that this is not normal. Does anyone know what is going on? I've been killed twice due to lag only!

Depends how good your own connection is ( internet ),
and how your connection is linked too the server connection.
I currently don't know where the server is located ( france or america ? ).
Also, if you have any programs running that require alot of bandwidth ,
( bittorent, kazaa, etc ) it might be better to turn them off while playing.
Don't forget to scan for adware, virusses and spyware on your computer,
as they might send out lots of information , thus destroying your bandwidth.

SoS is the only program I have running that requires the internet, I have a broadband connection, and my computer is clean of viruses, adware and spyware, and I am still experiencing huge lag. Is there anything else I can do?

I don't really know anything else that could cause the lag.
You/We could ask a GM about the server boxes location.
It could be that its like on the other side of the world for you, and which maybe has a bad backbone too that continent.

Hmmm...I'm in Portland, Oregon. How would I contact a GM? Aren't they supposed to be reading this board?

Aye, GM "Break" regulary watches through the forums,
you could PM him with a question about the lag, or wait till he sees this topic.

maybe there is also the case of bad/low memory.
do you have any other programs opened while in SoS~?
i live in NY and it's lagfree for me, so i doubt it's the location program
that is causing the problem for you~
and yush, pming GM_Break is probably the easiest way to fix your problem
if you're quite unsure <3 good luck~

According to my task manager, only 45% of my memory and 30% of my CPU is ever used while running the game. I have very good hardware. I have tried only running the game and it has no effect on the lag. Every other game I try runs fine... Thanks for trying everyone. I appreciate it.
I tried the game this morning and it had comparatively little lag (about 1-2 seconds between click and action) and now it's back to 5-10 seconds. It seems to be better when the server is less crowded, but it doesn't make sense that I should be experiencing more lag than others on the server.

I am in the UK and seem to be experiencing the same problem as you
Broadband good connection and nothing else ever running when I play SOS.
Sometimes its worse than others but this only started last night but was really bad tonight approx 2100 GMT so I have no idea if this is a high usage time for the US?
Hope we can get this sorted as I am really enjoying the game
