This is just my results from what I've experienced in gathering and mining and whether or not it's really truly worth it in the long run. I'll be updating this as I do more gathering and mining.

Gathering try #1 (25 shovels costing me 25*20G=500G)
8 Herbs (H) [32%]
5 Weeds (W) [20%]
4 Pieces of Wood (D) [16%]
8 Nothing [32%]
What I can make with this:
2 Minor Healing Pots (1H+2W*2) Buying price: 100G*2, Selling price (NPC): 20G*2
1 Light Healing Pot (2H+4W) Buying price: 200G, Selling price (NPC): 40G
1 Organic Yogurt (1Minor Mana+4W) Buying price: 200G, Selling price (NPC): 40G
1 Crude Wooden Club (3D) Buying price: 287G, Selling price (NPC): 56G

So far, it doesn't really look like gathering is worth it at the beginner level... The only use I see so far is to complete the first few quests to get the free skills or whatever the prize was.

with gathering and mining you can make your own weapons so sometimes it saves you money depending on how fast you get the items.

I haven't done mining yet, but I'm not expecting a whole lot out of it since mining shovels are around 50G a piece, right?

no thay are not 50G thay are only 20G.

Stone debris pretty much very common and i got like 100ish? I mine just to enchant my weapon.
