Rant.
I have a terrible memory ~ and I am thankful for the 50 slots on the friend list. I recognize lots of names, and while I can’t remember if they stand out because they sell/buy from me ~ party with me ~ pk me ~ are just jerks ~ or are worthy conversationalists ~ the one thing that I can count on is . . . chances are when I run into them again, I think they are jerks.
Now, I have a few alts, and a few mains. While I might be a terribly slow leveler, it is not for lack of participating in the Henneath Alliance.
I run into a lot of people who I either recognize by their name, or because they will explain that they are so and so, and I recognize that name while I am on an unknown alt.
So where is the rant? The rant is that the majority of people that I recognize who have higher level characters are either jerks, or they condone the behaviour of other jerks because the noob alts are main friends.
Whether it come in the form of obnoxious shouts in Elderine, or sheer apathy in KQ’s, it never fails to amaze me no matter how often I run across it. Be it a leecher in a KQ “He is so and so ~ he can do whatever he wants,” or some obnoxious comments in Eld that gets some fuel from other friends on their main, it sickens me.
Either I remembered them incorrectly, or this is in fact how they operate, I hate slowly but surely coming across each person I recognize with the thought in the back of my head ~ “Yea ~ I think this guy is a jerk but I’m not sure” as opposed to what I used to think ~ “Hey, I recognize that guy.”
Now I know there is the block function, and that’s what I typically do if I’m not in a KQ. In KQ’s I used to point out leechers, but I got pretty sick of being the messenger that got killed. Lately, I’ve seen more messengers, and I chime in if they say something. While the majority of the KQ is quiet, IMHO because there are so few people at that level everyone knows each other, there is always more people who kill the messenger.
An example? Someone is straight shrooming in a KQ. Another party comments on it ~ the shroomer is in my party ~ the shroomer gets out and says he is not leeching. I concur with the original commenter ~ and boom, people start chiming in “Hey don’t you have so and so as a main?” Leecher: “Yea, why, oh I know you.” Peanut Gallery: “Hey let him do what he wants, it doesn’t affect you, stop complaining.” Or “He isn’t in your party so what do you care.” Leecher: “Fine, you think I’m leeching I will. *Quits my party and shrooms, beginning a conversation with the peanut gallery.*
Seriously?
If this was my friend, I still would say, stop leeching, or at least own up to leeching, and give a reason if you have one, like “Yea, I went to the bathroom, I’m back so squash it.”
~End Rant.
