So, from reading this forum, I concluded that mages are hard to use in Pvp. Their skills are very powerful but take some time to cast and aren't that hard to dodge. Is this basially correct? I just started Wind Slayer and PvP as a novice is so fun^^. I'm lvl 10 (full INT cuz i felt like it) and all I need is the advanced class license for the job advancement. Anyways, just wanted to know about mages in PvP.

I'm a monk and Rogue, I have trouble with Mages. Mostly because they can get my health half down in one hit. They tend to give a lot of trouble to rogues because of there lone range casting. I'm not sure if it's them or I have a bad habit of closing in on them right when they cast. (while I'm invisible) I think Mages are a excellent class for pvp if you know how to use them, and with groups, well they are even more annoying. It's the class I dislike fighting the most.

Against people who know what they are doing, mages have a lot of trouble. Don't let the rabble who says "mages are easy to play" lie to you. I admit the mindless spam newbs usually use is worse than if they played monks or knights.
It's fairly easy to dodge mages spells, so at advanced levels, you'll learn some techniques to lure your opponents into your spells. You'll learn to love Earth pillar against jumpy rogues and monks :P. Just keep in mind that mages might hit hard, but they don't take kindly to damage - especially full int mages.
Oh yeah, in larger groups - as long as you stay with your teammates - mages tend to be very annoying. It's harder to dodge a melee and spells coming at you. In these situations, mages are the first targets due to their low hp and defense. Just learn to dodge more than you attack, and you'll be fine.

In group PvP you can stick with Warrior or Rogue, to perform nice team attack. In 1vs1 it may be very hard, especially before lvl 24 (when u get teleport).
Worst nightmare of Mage in PvP is Archer - try to avoid them ;)

I'm a Mage, and to tell you the truth; I like them alot more than I thought I would. They are hard to master at first, just getting the timing of your casting down. But after than its easier. Archers, and Monks seem to be my problem. But, if you do PvP with them, do it in a highly populated arena match; it makes it alot easier as well.

Thnx for input. Yeah, archers are annoying to me but PvP is still really fun. I'm level 11 so I just have one level of the range increase skill and the fire and ice skills. It's fun to hit people who are dashing.

Just stay on either side of the fray and spam cast into it. That's what most people do. You'll die, but since you do insane damage, you'll kill or maim a few people first. Most mages just dash to whichever outside area people aren't facing and cast, even if someone might not be there.
If you're a monk, jump at them, lure the spell, double jump lightly, grab, face kick, rinse, repeat. If you're mobbed, just leave, you'll get spammed to death. But otherwise you can just tease out the spells and counter attack. Archers, on the other hand, are very aggravating to me. The quick attack and the ranged jump attack are pretty sick. If they stay flat, they're just like a mage, though, only less squishy.

I'm new to Wind Slayer and I made a mage (Like I always do in MMO's ^^) I was shocked when I found out how much damage I took from a Fire Bolt by a mage my own level  I was a statue in seconds...>_>
But mages are very deadly in PvP if you know how to use them, and depending on your build.
Btw, I have a sort of strange build you probobly would say 25-30 SPR (For HP/Def) rest INT
Is that a fail build? <_<

Mage's are indeed deadly in PvP, and Summoners can get by with almost no MP use in PvP. It's quite fun. As for your build, what level are you? If you're about the same level as your SPR, from my understanding, that's a very good build.

Im level 12 >_> And I think I might go for an Elementalist since I prefer dealing raw damage rather than having someone else doing it for me ^^

I would say you might want to cut back on the SPR just a wee bit for now. That's quite a bit for your level, ha ha. The extra INT will let you cast quite a bit more spells too, even though at the moment it appears INT doesn't have an impact on damage dealt(cannot confirm, but may test it out one day).

Oh my that is a lot of SPR at level 12 XD what alden said, and INT is mainly for raising your MP so you can cast more. It does affect spell attack power somewhat. And what do you mean by having someone else killing for you as Summoner? Elementalists use MP like Priests who use Heal constantly. XD

Mages pwn in PvP. But they are easily killed if you aren't careful. As someone once said, Mages are glass cannons. Damage high, easy to break.
For a Mage, you are looking for good combos, and completely predicting one's movement. For example one time, I was a 1v1 with a Warrior. I got him with the Ice+Fire combo. Then when right after the stun from the fire, he jumped behind me, I quickly turned and cast another Ice, and did an Ice+Stone combo. Right when I finished that, I turned around and shot another ice, where of course he moved to. I was about to kill him with a stone, but a Rogue jumped up and took the damage. DX He said I was spamming. XDDD Anyways, complete anticipation. Stay 3 steps ahead of your opponent.
Oh and here is a tip for Archers. If you are 1v1ing them, this is easiest time to do it. When they jump and do their Diagonal arrow shoot, quickly block. Block only long enough for you to not get stunned. Then IMMEDIATELY cast an Ice/Fire/Wind/Stone. And there you go.
Gl. Mages pwn.

I meant once I get about 20 SPR I just put points on INT
By saying "Having someone else kill for you" I just meant I prefer killing quickly rather than getting help to kill :p (Such as damage/Defence boosts via Summons)
My lvl 10 Priest = Spam party healer in PvP ---> Not much MP left D:
An experience from a few hours ago:
Me (Mage) vs Archer
He start using the "Extremely smart and unexpected" jump spam, and I decide to counter it with my own jump spam :D. This worked surprisingly well and stopped me from getting hit that much (Only drawback was that I was doing 18 damage a hit, not my lovely 356 >_>). Eventually he decides to stay on the ground and make me have to keep airborn as long as possible. Then as he prepares to use an Ice arrow, I Teleport behind him, Ice + Fire he jumps and I manage to catch him with another Ice but this time I use stone guard to kill him. :D *Story Over*
So at the end of the day. Teleport and countering his jump spamming with my own won BLUE TEAM the match ^^
Mages 4 ever ;)
