I'm a noob, how do you upgrade things?

Hay, how do you upgrade your things? I tried my weapon with a Elrue stone and my shield but it wouldn't do a thing. It didn't even say I failed and destroy my weapon. What do I need to do?

You have to refine your equipment 3 times to make it look different. with elure it makes it blue

but are elrue perminent or can you remove them and put them on another wep?

First, you need to do this thing:
press "shift" and while pressing it, left click on the enhancing stone. Then divide them so that there would be 1 per your inventory window.
Second thing:
Place that one stone in any window of the circle. Then place your weapon in the middle after unequipping it. Press "start the enhancing". This should work :3

Be careful. You can destroy your weapon if the enhancment fails. (Happens to me all the time)

What previous poster said. Only you need to go to see Smith (James) and choose Refine Item in order to see the circle =3
