View Full Version : Interesting Error Message: "?!."

I recently downloaded this game on my laptop. My laptop is a mac though I use parallels to run Windows XP on it, so that shouldn't matter. I installed the game as I did on my desktop at home, which is a Vista. I first believed maybe this error message was associated with my using Parallels but I found someone else who had this error, and his/her post was only responded to with "Ya me 2", which isn't much help.
To give you an exact runthrough of the process I have done: I downloaded the client 1.2.64, installed it accordingly, and then ran the launcher. I then logged in with my Outspark ID and immediately recieved an error message saying "?!." with the question mark upside down and an "OK" button. I click the button to get "?!._2" as an error message, I again click "OK". The game then attempts to run and then immediately returns to the launcher. Would anyone have a solution to this?

Im no computer expert but it sounds like your computer cannot read fiesta's engine let's say. I do not know how to fix this problem though.

Thank you for posting that! You don't know how often we get people with error problems and don't release specs on their computer. :)
Judging from the set up it looks like it may be the RAM or the emulator. I actually don't have much knowledge on Macs being able to emulate FO via such but my suggestion would be this. Make a thread called "Any Fiesta players playing on a Mac via Emulated Windows?" as I think that might, hopefully, bring others who may or may not have it working on theirs. In that sense they may be able to help you better than a straight PC user could.

Dufort, are you running an emulation of Windows? Or are you just using a PC?

As an update to this situation, I tried downloading an older version of the client to see if that would work, but no such luck.
To anyone else having this problem, please post your PC's specs or if you're emulating it on a mac, it will be easier to find the solution if we know this is caused by an emulation or by an OS.

Dont waste time running parallels.. its only an expensive WINE copy which has no DirectX support whatsoever - and the emulated graphics card (some VESA 3. 0 32MB card) is not really known to run much stuff anyway..
Try using Bootcamp and install XP on the mac, that should work fine.

Well though that's a great recommendation on how to improve my XP's stats, have you confirmed that such improvements are going to do anything for my situation?
If not I'm going to recommend you understand why I bought parallels compared to another emulation software. It's simple really: I'm a student at UCF and therefor I get a discount on it and it wasn't so "expensive" ($70 wasn't too bad really). However, I looked up Bootcamp up and I'm downloading that as we speak, hopefully that will work.
Regardless, if someone is able to find a solution to this predicament, please do so!

I have tried running the game (as a dozen others) for fun under paralels and it didnt work out since DirectX is only poorly done in emulation. Also if it was running you wouldnt have much fun with it for it would be WAY slower than a Bootcamped system..

So the error is not with emulation (alone), the error must be with the OS?
I'm using Windows XP Professional 2002 w/ Service Pack 2. What about you Dufort?

To update this situation, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the OS. I read on another forum that a user had a similar problem with Windows Vista.
However, I believe this may help the tech wizards here:
I looked on other forums and found alot of people directed to C:\Program Files\Outspark\Launcher\outspark.exe.log, so I decided to look at it myself. I found this entry listed 3 times (The number of times I tried to run the game after reinstalling it):
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "outspark.py", line 1, in <module>
ImportError: No module named wx
I ran a search on my folders, but was unable to find a file named "outspark.py", perhaps the fact that it's missing is the issue?
As another note, I downloaded the most recent client again using Mozilla Firefox and got the same error, even after uninstalling my old version and then installing the firefox version I downloaded, so it's been downloaded with this error, the error was not created in the download process.
Thanks again for your help!
