But I can't, for the love of god, find out how to chat. I've tried randomly pressing some of the buttons ; that didn't work out to well, heh.

I was wondering how you chat, or if there was a fault when I installed it, perhaps.

Sometimes chat acts funny like that in game. Press your Enter key a few times. If that doesn't bring up a little bar under the chat box, hover your mouse icon over it and try again.

Another tidbit that may help: Open up options (press escape), go to game settings, and turn off the hide chat box (can't remember if that's exactly what it's called) feature. If the box next to it is yellow, it's on. Click on that yellow box to get rid of it, thus turning it off.

Now, you'll know exactly where the chat box is at all times.

And yes, pressing enter opens up the box where you enter chat. It appears directly below the chat box.

You can also turn off " Command Prompt" this will automatically close the chat line after each message. Then you don't have to press enter again to close it.

i figured out how to turn off the chat window waaaay after i figured out how to open the chat thing up

before i thought i had to log out and back in

then i found out i can just press escape...

well, it's already been said, but just to reiterate:

press 'enter' to open the chat bar
type whatever you want in it to talk in local chat.
type /s before whatever you want to talk in shout chat (orange/yellow)
type /p '' party chat (blue)
etc. etc.

and just beware of the wrong chat thing...that can get very embarrassing.
