View Full Version : More Servers Needed?

I personally think that Fiesta is getting quite crowded and more servers are needed, because this game is going to be huge and I think the severs are going to crash. It's already pretty laggy in some areas.

The servers aren't being pushed to their limits yet (with maybe the exception of Apoline). Every time I log in and look most of the time the servers are in "Good" status, very rarely in Busy, and once in a great while "Full".

I think once they expand the newbie areas (a new town linked to Roumen's areas?) things'll quiet down. Also with the upcoming patch, the gold spam shouting will be reduced a great bit.

Hmn...Instead of a new server....Give each server two channels. One channel will be its current state, and the second channel for each server will just be another place for you to log in with that character for that server.

Maplestory isn't the only one with channels/subservers at all. A lot of games do that - and I am for it. Although Steam says we aren't even close to maximum capacity on the servers yet - so that won't be happening soon I guess.

i don't want to know what max capacity is with the lag when it isn't max capacity. But whats with subservers. and what is a channel. Saying have a server and then a channel confuses me. please explain.

I think we do need more servers. Being that more ppl are being invited into the game. I mean come on. Each time i log in. I see new lowbies fighting outside Ruomen. Its overly crowded with ppl not that its a bad sight. But it does make me lag just walking or running the streets with all the mini houses and ppl surrounded the NPCs.

It is crowded..

we need channels, I think.

We should be able to still communicate via guild and pm REGARDLESS of what channel everyone is on (think Lunia) but people will be physically separated. :3

Of course, I wouldn't be against adding a new server if they gave us the chance to migrate our characters.

The servers aren't laggy at all, from a connection point of view.

The OMFG***BBQ amount of mushrooms opening their shops RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD is what's causing graphical lag for most people's machines.

We really need some form of rules regarding shops, or an actual area where there's nothing but shops so people can go shoping -there- specifically. Because it's getting impossible to navigate through towns with all those damn mushrooms everywhere.

Or better yet, get rid of the damn shrooms.
Let us open a shop without having to be inside of a shroom.

a better solution to the graphics lag would be a sort of auction house (ala wow, others) or consignment shop (ala saga of ryzom, others), and an option to hide shrooms, and all players who aren't in your party.

the game has minimum requirements, but even the newest graphics cards can only brute force so many polys onto the screen

I have to say - I have not experienced much server lag at all. Graphical lag however...

A lot of people seem to not get the difference and think it is the same. Graphical lag - as others said - means your computer can't handle it.

The servers are VERY stable in my opinion and extremely lag-free for me. I usually have high pings everywhere I go - but Fiesta is really nice.

For those who don't know - server lag is when you do something and it doesn't happen for a while. Like hitting heal, everyone stops moving and nothing happens. Then all of the sudden everything moves really, really fast for a moment to catch you up.

@ Person who asked what channels were:

Subservers/Channels are the same server, as in everyone you know and your characters are there. You can log on Apoline and say, choose between server 1, 2, and 3. You log on 1, probably the most crowded... and bot filled. Decide you can't take it and switch to server 3.

Not many people are here, just a few shops in town. You tell all your friends to log on s3 instead so you can hunt in CP without another group bothering you. However, n00bs start KSing you.

You switch to s2 now with your friends. Nobody is in CP on s2 luckily except an AFK shroom in the corner. And the n00b KSers are still on the third form of the server bothering people, not this one, so you are free. You decide this is a good place to hunt.

Hope that helps - I couldn't describe it really, lack of words.

well how about we all get Teva not going down all the time before we make new servers shall we?

I remember fiesta with just Teva. The lag was horrible. KQ was impossible.

well there are two now but i wouldn't mind haveing a thered... less people = less lag :)

although i think more lower levl towns would also help out with the lag problem

I still think we need to get the 2 we have working right before we make another.

I think the idea to have more towns branched to the beggining areas or even 1-2 towns and a few more newbie areas with same monsters would be a good idea. Although pretty soon we will for sure need at least 1 more server.

All we need is a separated server for market rooms, it'd greatly reduce the lag, if more server are implemented, places like GC would be soo empty. wouldn't it be waste of resources? The only problem I guess now, is CP I don't really lag til I'm at CP, lag spikes occur.

CP is weird... it can be almost emty in there and still i lag???

but yes if there would be a way to seprat people going into towns on seprat servers that would be good.... but it would take a lot to get it so that would happen best to have a new server..

more servers means more people to fix the problems

The lag in CP's probably due to the number of people accessing through it day in and out, haven't got time for it to refresh? lols just my assumption.
