Attend drop parties and giveaways, I suppose. I just buy/resell.

I have my methods.
And, because it always gets brought up, IF you are willing to lose xp to spam-killing pkers, there is the abyss.... Just don't whine about it when it happens. And remember that the 2x abyss is the worst of them, because of spawn-killing pkers.
Something I have noticed, though, concerns drop rates.
During increased drop rate effects, you get more materials (things like Meat, Leather) and almost no equips as compared to normal. This is on level appropriate monsters, I didn't bother to check anywhere else during the weekend.
But, expect to be "poor" for a while. You don't really start getting money until you get higher level anyways.
