Do Licenses do anything?

Yes, I know that Licenses are supposed to increase damage. "35% damage" here and "35% damage" there. But as far as I could tell with the sword warriors get a level 8 (Lv3 enhance), those 35% damage "bonuses" are neglible. I mean, okay, maybe I misinterpreted the true meaning of "35% damage", but to me it means "This sword deals 35% more damage (before applying defense)". So, if I were to attack with only a Lv3 enhance sword, I would expect a big difference. Heck, I could hardly tell the difference between it and a NORMAL level8 sword. (except the average 4 damage increase you get from upgrading it to +3) And the moment I got the Level 15 Sword with no enhancements, guess which one was better? =\

Would someone please show me wrong? Maybe it's only worth it on weapons that deal more damage? Maybe it needs more enhancement to make it better? I might notice it more if I apply a 3rd 35% license on there? I've only played for three days, so I don't know much. :rolleyes:

The licence do increase your damage. But it isn't a plain % increase.
Let's say you have a +35% ratman licence, you'll get up to 35% increased damage output against ratmens only. In other words, your damage output will be anywhere between your [base damage] and [base damage +35%].
Also, stacking several same licences is no use, only the higher one is taken into consideration.

licenses only add points of damage.. you'll get 1-3 more damage per level .. that's about all it will do..

i took note of my hammer before the license and as it progressed though on gold slimes.. i'd say when it was done i got 10 more max damage then i did before.

Warrior. Long Sword (+3)
Base damage: 12~20(+4), or 93~104 in character.
Licenses: Ratman Dominator - Completed (35%), Boar Dominator - Completed (35%)
Also, the game won't let you stack licenses of the same type.

From what I have seen, the weapon bonus (at dominator) is 35% increase to the base damage of the weapon. It would look a little something like this.

You vs. Ratmen

12-20 - Base
16.2-27 - With liscense
20.2-31 - With enhancement

Then it would calculate the stats, of which I have no idea how the calculation goes but I don't think the liscense applies to the character display damage (the one where you press "c"). Then it is put in against the Ratmen's armor. However, the difference is with aaaalll your upgrades to the weapon you do about 150% of what you would've done.

So, you'll hit ratmens anywhere from 93 to about 135 dmg. On average, expect to see 110ish.
