Kingdom quests are boring by the time you've done them fifteen times in a row, aren't they? Here's a few "special" ways to go through your kingdom quests in a different (but ultimately helpful) way! Get yourself a group of friends in the same kingdom quest and have a blast, then tell everyone how it went here.
The Backwards Slime Trail
Ahh, King Slime. Run around in circles, kill everything, overshoot the next level entrance to mop up the remainder, then head up and do it again!
The game: With your group, or solo if you're feeling up to it, go against the flow, and go the opposite way, killing everything while the other quest-goers are heading the long way. If you time it right, you'll meet them halfway, and everything gets done in half the time! If you time it even better, you'll meet them at the entrance, and most of the group will keep running in the direction you came from, looking for all those enemies you killed.
Difficulty: Depending on your class, level, and number of co-conspirators, pretty easy.
The reward: Satisfaction mainly. Plus a nice little bit of Experience to call your own from all those unassisted kills. Great for finishing those quests!
The Mara Slow Run
Everyone rushes in Mara don't they? It's like someone told them "the faster you win, the better the prize" or something.
Well, whilst running through Mara one day, the Famous Maiya, fed up with the rushing, and the inevitable being left behind, said "why don't we just go through without rushing, and kill everything we see?".
And so we did, and we never looked back.
The game: Start by telling everyone that you won't be rushing (it's only polite to warn them). When the main group rushes, which, nine times out of ten, they will, let them! Then it's time for the game to begin.
Every time an enemy targets someone, take them down. Take whichever route you like, and chances are you'll catch up with the rushers before/as they reach the first Mara/Marlone encounter. Chances are even better that you'll pick up trapped stragglers from the rush in droves. Our slow-runs have sometimes netted as many as six extra participants who would otherwise have died. Not bad going with only three members doing the Slow Run.
Nightmare Mode: Kill every single thing in Mara before the boat, and still beat the KQ within the time limit - Easier than it sounds actually.
Difficulty: With a cleric with revive, this is actually pretty easy. The precursor to the Mara slow runs started with only clerics and mages, and most can be done with a cleric/mage party of as low as level 19 or so. You should finish fighting your way to the sub-bosses by around 35 minutes left on the clock. Killing the sub-bosses, then killing your way to the boat and emptying its occupants should leave you with between 20-25 minutes, even on Nightmare Mode. Plenty of time to kill the end boss, even if somebody accidentally lures a fake.
The Reward: Surprise surprise, doing slow runs can actually help finish the KQ faster! More members survive thanks to the backup squad, providing more firepower. And in the end, if everything goes pear-shaped, your team will have got as much experience from the goons as the bosses give, before they even hit the first Mara/Marlone group.
There's also the not intangible bonus that, since you're not rushing past enemies and are killing them off at your own pace, you'll be dying a lot less!
Most important of all - Have fun folks, and we hope you enjoy Kholai and Maiya's kingdom quest games!
