I'm assuming that GM's have the ability to look at everything that is going on everywhere.. and at any time.. past or present..
I'm curious how the heck botters ever prosper in the first place?
I mean, let's say someone made a bot, and had it for a few days or a week or whatever before it was caught and deleted... they would still have to setup some sort of place to sell the items to get the money then send the money off to another account that was 'legal' and do it all before the GM's caught the bots .
I guess they could auto-NPC every drop they get.
would it be possible for the GM's to find out where the money from the botters accounts went? and take it away from whoever it went to?
I know in Rappelz when they detect an account is doing things illegally (like selling cash-shop items in-game for game gold, but the cash-shop items were purchased illegally with stolen credit cards/paypal accounts).. The Rappelz staff will retroactively remove all of the deals that player made..
so if you bought something from someone that was bought illegally, you would lose the item.. you would get YOUR game-gold back, but the item would be gone.
That seems a pretty effective deterrant as it really cut down on the number of botters in Rappelz.. they are still there, but i hear the number went way down.
