Instead of making most of our damage come from our staff/wand how about if it came from our spells?

The problem I see is we use our lvl 1 spells as they are the most effective.

Higher dps, better damage to mana ration, quick recast. More hits = more chances of crit.

They can't very well go fix the spell scaling. It would scale incredibly high and make mages damage gods. But if you take damage away from weapons and instead make damage based off stats/skill level. That could make things balanced. Make weapons give crit bonsues/stats bonuses/speed changes. Maybe make wands 2x as fast as staffs but 1/2 the damage. Same dps.

Other possibility, let staffs have a basic ranged attack. Which does raw mgc damage that has a high defense. Give styles the ability to change the damage type and bypass monsters magic defense.

The overall problem that I see is that we rely on damge from our main weapon instead of from our skills/styles/spells.

How about Staff having higher damage but remains 2H while Wand have lesser dmg but able to wield a shield :)

Why should they completely change the way mages deal damage for no reason? There is no reason to impliment this idea of yours. Have a good day.

...It's also just not a good idea at all in my opinion...

the problem is your using your lvl one spells to much mix them together use the ones that have fast cool times as lvl 1 spells and the slower ones use higher lvl spells to do more damage higher lvl spells do lots more damage less hits more damage slower cool down but you can improve cool down during empowering my parties usually are killing harkan king coll and ogres and they all 3 die alot faster when i use my high level spells it does cost more but they die faster meaning i can earn more drops faster that i can resell and anyplayer is better off using stones unless they can make there own potions stones recharge a percent of your missing sp or hp so the higher your sp hp is the more they recharge and it cuts cost alot when you have 1300 sp pots are not an option go with stones youll get further for less

For no reason? To improve mages solo ability. Mages do fine in groups.
