1) should help - at least a little bit
2) easy to program a way to not repeat the exact same thing
3) lower level players who will still rely on normal chat will still be spammed to hell. and that's probably where most of the gold spammer/levelers business is anyway.

no it won't.. you don't know it.. but a bunch of spammers ALREADY have a workaround to that..

ever notice a bunch of random characters at the end of spams? well, those are to fool the repeat filters.

You would have to make some sort of 'average message similarity' check..

lvl 20 is a bit high because:
1. not everyone has time to grind and or grind in general.
2. Not all players can reach 20 in a day.
3. People may need help doing something and need to shout at lvl 10.

yes 6 is too low but 20 is too high. But not everyone can lvl 20 lvls in a day. We are all not the same age. My little sister plays and she has been lvl 16 for a week(don't know her issue) My mom is lvl 17 and it has taken her 3 days. But it took me a week to get to lvl 20. Depending on the class and if they like the class they might not be able to lvl it past lvl 10. And people lvl fast with KQ. That is how people get to 20 in a day. But the problem with that is not everyone can get into a KQ>

I disagree and I got 20 in a day and more. I disagree because newbies have questions - I know because I've answered them a thousand times in chat. A 'normal person' would not agree with you because a 'normal person' would not reach level 20 in a day. That is a cold fact.

A casual gamer would probably hit 10-15 in one day and get to 20 throughout the rest of the week. EVERY person, I believe, has a right to talk on shout if they so wish.

Because of this patch I have to level my bank character up to 6, no biggie. If I have to level her up to 20 I'd be pretty pissed because that's a few more hours added onto me. If normal players under 20 couldn't shout - it just ruins the experience for them and detracts from the Massively Multi-player Online game.

You have no idea what you are talking about, honestly. And Outspark is getting rid of them - just give them some time. But you don't want many people to talk in shout anyways with your fun level limits - so it shouldn't bother you at all.

I needed two weeks to reach lvl20, ok, i haven´t so much freetime, but to reach lvl20 in one day?!?!, you must play 24h to reach this level and only with the help of others with higher level.

back to subject, ive had Shout off from day one, am i missing something? i have a L23 Cleric 15 figter 12 archer and 11 mage all which i solod, on my mage i found join KQ from 5-`5 = powerlvl so only can see L20 from old timers from CB people that have to much time on there hands like me :(, but L20 would be bad fro Shout i guess, on a old game Diablo 2 i had Mules in Hell mode in 45m, just get a buddy rush you ( which im against, enjoy the game) if need to get Mules/Seller to shout level. but again my shout is off, and my genral is in towns, but im a solo noob so guess my 2 cent kinda wasted

I would like to see the titles that go with spamming removed. Like the DJ set. We really do not need to incourage the the shouting in ever single zone. The gold spammers are just total nusiance.

I have turned off all my shouts also but know I miss some things that would benefit my play if I could keep it on.:eek:

Amen to that! I can see announcer, because I have it, and that was just from having a fun conversation with others in the area. Plus 100 shouts in an hour is achievable without trying, if you're having great conversations with new friends, or even arguing about something. But when you've got people running around saying "ohoh," "hi~," and "hello~" all day because they want a title as ridiculous to get as World DJ, the game needs to get rid of it or atleast lower the amount needed for such a title. Even broadcaster is 1000, and that's ridiculous. They should definetly do something about the requirements (or existence) of such titles, Or else, we'll never see an end to such spamming.

Hey. I made Announcer and Broadcaster last night at level 16. And that was just having conversations with everyone when I should have been level grinding. xD I wasn't spamming, I was just talking. (I just realized how much I had to have been talking to get broadcaster. @_@ Are you sure it's 1000!? It WAS a rather intense conversation but that's still.....@_@...)

It doesn't matter if you ban people from using shout. All the bots are just using regular chat now anyways because they're even too lazy to get past level 6 to advertise. So what are you going to do, ban everyone under level 20 from chatting at ALL? May I remind you that an mmorpg is about a lot of people in a community, which means communication is necessary. We should not be censoring legit players in an effort to wipe out bots. It is simple unthinkable that such a thing would be done.

The speed to reach level 20 depends entirely on what character you are using. But anyone who can reach it in a day obviously has nothing better to do with their time, as not everyone can spend 24 hours straight sitting beating up monsters in an game.

I think there need to be either new moderators set up to clean out towns, because it's obvious that GMs can't handle it all. @_@ At least that until Outspark can set something up.

I can't help but think that if this was a p2p game that we wouldn't be having this problem. It makes me sad that in a f2p OPEN BETA game, that people would be so greedy as to want to make money like that. x.x People have no shame.

Here is an idea, not saying it's a good one, but it may just work on some levels:

Have several titles in the game. I'm sure the game logs how long a player is online. It must do, it appears on one of the outspark.com pages, anyway. Obtain titles such as "Gold Spammer" or "Final Warning" for obtaining an average of something like 300 or 600 announcements an hour respectively over the entire length of the game.

Then perhaps another one at 900 which just stops their character completely. Still - if you see ""<name>" has achieved the title "Gold Spammer"" or whatever it is, you could easily track down who's spamming

what right do you have to go on about "real players"? :mad: do you think that just because some of us have a real life that we're not real players?? i'm not level 20, i havent been playing since the games was made, and i actually have a job, a family and a social life. But i play the game to have fun, i don't cheat or spam and i like to think that i'm starting to catch onto things quite quickly. i consider myself a real player cause i'm here to play the game. calling anyone that isn't some sort of loser addict not a real player is really uncool.

and by the way, i do agree with a level 20 shout thing. i have no reason to use it, so the fact that i wouldn't be able to is not a concern for me. anything to get rid of, or hinder in any way the spammers is a good idea.

Honestly, I don't think there's anyway to stop the spammers. Sub-human scum though they might be, it's something it looks like we're going to have to put up with.
