Should the "Yellow Watermelon" drop rate increase?

I min catch 22 regarding the drop rate of these Watermelon's.
Consider these comments.

They increase the drop rate
- The value of these items drop and those not wanting pets (God knows who :P) will have an item worth a lot less than their current value.
- Pets will become a norm and very little effort and willpower will be needed to obtain one, meaning the reactions of others when they see a pet will be less than now.

They DONT increase the drop rate
- Pets become rare and very little users would be bothered to do the quest.
- Watermelon's will be extremely expensive and may have a negative effect on the econemy. (Players not spending the money from Watermelons and less money circulating) - It's a long shot but a point to consider.
- We may see botters farming the mobs that drop them.

Please vote sensibly, everyone wants a pet - but think it through..

Its fine as it is now. Having a pet is something you work for and gain it. You don't just simply go Oh esay i got a pet! Even in real life pets are expensive and need extensive care. So the drop rate on the watermelon is fair. Botting? not a problem with active gms to ban you. Money? Its not hard to gain money as you go higher in levels. So in all the vote will be no. For you to say yes, its simply cause you really want one and are lazy to find them. Yes it maybe tendious to keep killing the same monster over and over to get them but once you get them all your realize you finally accomplish your goal and have more satisfactory of it. I mean your leveling and you grind a lot so why not do this for a 5 melons? Its the same thing just a different goal. :)

As some games as you know it, not all GM's take care of this matter, but also Sub GM's that they hire especially to carry this factor out. So in all they do get sleep. ;)

After spending 8 hours and not finding one, I feel like Alt+f4, delete SoS! I don't want to be frustrated in a game on something like this, especially when the drop rate for everything else upto this point is stupidly easy.

<Edit> and to answer a post already submitted... Taking a quest like this, is something we can all do, we should then FORGET we have the quest, because if you don't, it will drive you mad, very quickly.... the point of the problem though is knowing you have the quest.... and not finding these stupid quest yellow watermelons.

So i'll just make it simpe, the more hard to get = the more sweeter the resulting feelings.

It's an online game, there is going to be people using macro's and bots no matter what. Even with active GM's, they can't catch everybody anyway. So if people get used to such a low drop rate on them as it is, this will mean when people do eventually create bots/macros the price won't drop down to something insignificant.

Ok, I admit, I spent 8 hours yesturday looking for these things. I am that pissed with it, I haven't logged in today. I went and downloaded another game.

As best as I can explain it...

A game is supposed to be entertainment, fun and a little challanging. These are the reasons I play a game. However, after 8 hours, I was not having a fun, entertaining time as a result of that challange. I was frustrated, annoy'd and ready to scream at someone.

Now, I could just delete the quest, I haven't done many of the others, so this ONE, could be deleted, but I thought about it and I wanted a pet.... I saw the quest, I read about it, I looked for Yellow Watermelons, I wanted a pet!

At the moment, I can't be bothered to log in and test... I know that's stupid, but it's pissed me off to the core of frustration.

I was talking to a korean player who was in-game earlier today and he told me that yellow watermelons and xen stones are supposed to be random drops from every mob, which is not the case here atm >< As for the drop rate, I don't know. Maybe the GMs purposely made the yellow watermelons rare, which sucks. So yes, I agree that they should increase the drop rate, or at least make it drop from every mob.

You have an excellent point, i havent played the game jet, but i see this kind of things i another MMORPG, and i think that if you drop the rate will be very bad for everybody as you explain, so i say, increase the rate

Yes it needs to be increased...even if it's not by a huge amount...it is extremely frustrating that the drop rate of a quest item, even if it's a voluntary one, is less than that of lucky balls >_<

What do I think when I see somebody with a Pet? Well, I'm very impressed.
Pets are clearly made to not be for the Light-hearted, and to have an over-whelming sense of pride once you have obtained one. Once you have one, you have one for Life, these aren't Lucky Balls, there are no Expirary Dates.
No, keep it the same, a Pet is more then just a ball that follows you.

Since I did that, I have not logged into game... that was about 2 weeks ago now.

To say I was frustrated by that whole experiance... well, they will not get my money later if it continues to remain that bad.

I got all of my yellow watermelons for my pet from an event and from buying them off of people in the square, or I'd let you all know which mobs to kill to try to find them.

Ehm, the pets so far I have seen(and possess) is only of the poyo-family.
They are useless outside the "cute and cuddly mascot"-thing.

I almost got killed twice in Witchwood Forest when I was soloing thanks to my poyo, during the re-applying Assist Heal. >_<

Let me tell u something im doing this quest for a long time and i didnt get any YW and i killed a lot of mobs never seen one drops it, but when is event there is like a lot of them. I didnt get any cuz mobs where all dead and i cant manage it to events cuz i am GTM+1. I'we been doin' this quest for soo long and i see lower lvl's that did it before me.I am grinding every day.Maybe if you can tell me what mob drops them or what. One more thing pet shoud be more expensive not hard to get quest items to get them its normal.

actually brdza84, if you kill lots of mobs in spawn city, you could easily get 5 yellow watermelon

from one spawn city, i got 3 yellow melon, 1 xen stone, and a bunch of junk but that was only from 1 spawn city XD i must of been really lucky or it was commonly dropped during the event

This poll really doesnt get us anywhere. The people with pets, who had to work for them, will say no; the people without pets, who dont want to work for them, will say yes. I've seen ywm drop from monsters.(*hint*the place was a maze with someone at the end)

The rare items are what makes the economy go. There has to be items everyone will want and pay a price to get. A pet is something you have to work for, not something that is handed to you. Decreasing its rarity decreases the economy.


Btw, increasing the drop rate will make bots that more effective. As it is now, it is nearly impossible to farm ywm. Increasing the drop rate will make it so much easier to farm them.

I just want to know what the heck I kill to get them. Where is spawn city? I think that it should stay like it is. I like working for my lvl and my prizes. If the game was that easy it would get boring quick

u have to collect 5 YWM(yellow watermelon) [can be dropped.. rarely - or gotten from events , or bought] and then make one JUICE- any type from the general shop.

Take all these things to the pet merchant north east of arcanus square~ then voila.

I should add that you need to give him juice also. Bring five tangerines or similar fruit to the item shop and make juice of them.

Games should be that, games, not pastimes. I shouldn't have to spend hours for a quest. Is there a comprimise? I like hopping on durring child's naptime and winding down, but hate getting off an hour 1/2 later with little accomplished.

about the watermelons though.. if they are anything like quest items for any other game they must be hard to find (havnt played s.o.s so im using my experience with almost every MMORPG or RPG known to canada/usa) and they should stay as hard to get

making something easy to find ruins the fun in collecting. so what if bots are present. just pm one of our many splendid gms to take a stroll by and take a better look at them.
