split item

I got about 500 healing pots and I put it in my storage and only want to get 70 out because their too heavy. So, I'm wondering how I can split an item so I can only get 70 as the rest are too heavy for me.

You can have a stack of 50 and a stack of 20. To make the stack of 20, hold down Shift and left-click the stack and type in 20, hit Enter and move it to an empty spot in your inventory.

It's not working. It either picks them all up or none and won't let me split doing the shift split thing. Hate to have to drop them.
