I had originally posted this in the Feedback forums, but since it concerns the fighters community, I thought maybe it would be more appropriate here. Here it goes...
has anybody else noticed that, from a purely damage perspective, the 2-hand axe greatly outperforms the 2-hand sword?
simple example. the lvl50 2-hand sword has a base damage range of 202-287. that is below the base damage range of the lvl40 2-hand axe which is 243-337.
perhaps your argument would be that the axe swings slower. that is true. in 19.5 seconds, the sword will swing 15 times (1.3seconds x 15 = 19.5seconds). the axe on the other hand will only swing 13 times (1.5seconds x 13 = 19.5seconds).
so some simple math to calculate total damage in 19.5 seconds strictly from auto-attacks.
ITEM.........................AVERAGE DAMAGE PER SWING........TOTAL DAMAGE
LVL50 2-Hand Sword...........(202+287)/2= 244.5 x 15........3667.5
LVL40 2-Hand Axe..............(243+337)/2= 290.0 x 13........3770.0
Take into account that the axe is only level 40 compared to the level 50 sword.
So what exactly does the sword having going for it?
CONS
1. less damage
2. less crit %
PROS
1. more aim (easily remedied with a power scroll that increases aim and not damage?, dunno why)
2. better graphics? (personal opinion)
I am not trying to complain or anything, this is a free game for us to try out after all. However, I am pointing out something that I noticed and unless somebody else knows something that I missed, I think this is something that should be addressed. This is in beta, and I'm just trying to help out.
My suggestion is to have both weapons have the same DPS [(min+max)/2]/weapon speed = same for both weapons. The axe having a higher base damage spread of course to take into the account of the slower attack speed. Everything else is okay I think. The 2hand sword is for a bit more consistent damage output while the 2hand axe would miss a little bit more but has a higher crit% to make up the difference. Personal weapon preference from thereon.
Your opinion appreciated.
