Vista Works!

Okay, I thought vista was the problem but it really was the driver update problem that we keep hearing about. It took me a while to figure out how to get this game to work for me but I finally got it and I hope this will help more vista users. I went into my start menu and then clicked on "Windows Update" then from there, there were a list of available updates (Well... That's what I would hope to find there.) and then I saw a driver update available so I downloaded the update, restarted my computer and now it works! Again, I really hope you people find this useful... otherwise, I wouldn't be taking the time to not play the game and post this.

I've had no problems getting this game to work on vista. My only problem with vista is not being able to see how many items I have *just see white boxes instead of number of items*

Mine says up to date and I still have problems....i have black screen and white boxes still

I haven't really been able to get it working just yet, gettin that done at the moment, but really you shouldn't really expect it to be perfect since its only an open beta test. Really, just find the glitches and bugs that you come across and report them to the GMs so that they can fix em.

I've been playing on my Windows XP cause Vista seems to be a huge problem. and btw to the above poster just to correct you its closed beta.

Ah right, sorry, closed beta, well anyhow, the way I tried to fix it didn't work, so I'll be busy trying new ways to get it running on Vista and if I find a way, I'll post it, somewhere...

I had no problem installing it on my Vista and hopefully it will continue to run smoothly when I play....

well for me its not installing.....when i try to play i get black and white boxes thats the prob

There have been many graphical glitches reported by users who play SotS on Windows Vista. While it is not recommended at this time, you should be aware that we are currently working out these issues in our QA department and are well aware of the issue. If possible, I would suggest playing on a different computer that runs on Windows XP and hopefully this will help you in your adventures.

Same problem as Lordteirm, black screen and white boxes in the character creation screen!!! Pls help!!!!!!! Where exactly do you download OpenGL 1.2 for Intel? Where in the Intel site???

This is the video card of my computer: "SyncMaster 740N/179N, SyncMaster Magic CX721N/CX714N on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". What video driver should I use? I'm still having white boxes and black screen while in the actual playing. What/where should I download the needed drivers/video card? My computer has this label, "Intel Core2 Duo" (additional info)

I got the same person as those above: I get a black screen after selecting a created character though. Also, I don't know but, so far, I have downloaded the DirectX thing, but I don't seem to be able to find a graphic driver that is "compatible to my driver" and where is this openGL thing for intel? by the way, I use a Inspiron E1405.

im having problem with SoS too. white screen and i can only see my character. downloaded the graphic drive but still the same

Vista is being worked on right now and so it is a known problem. All you can do is wait til problably after beta. there is nothing yet to resolve it completley for some people. Just play on a computer that isn't Vista for now
