I just had this idea that i think could be quite useful, instead of adding an in-game character to your friends list,if you added their ID to your friends list you would know whenever they logged in to ANY OS game. Or if they were on a different server in the same game you would still be able to chat to them and ask them to come to your server on their other account. Because I'm sure my friends often log in to another game but i would still like to be able to chat to them. Because the chance of seeing your friend often is hit and miss especially if they like several other OS games. So thats my idea. Please post and say what you think. <(^-^)>

I think it's a good idea but there are a few problems with it.
People may want to keep a character secret, or private. Of course this could be solved by adding a "apear offline" type status so that nobody can see you online with a particular character.
Another thing is that you shouldn't give people your account name. While it may be trivial, a hacker would have an easier time finding your account ID.
The only way I see it working is if the account ID is different than the friend ID. So you would chose a friend ID before making an account. The problem with that is people who already made an account would have to somehow make a friend ID. Because of that, they would require two separate friends lists, one for the old system and one for the new.
In the end, it's easier to just install X-Fire I think.
