I* have been wondering how to participate in KQ I kept on pressing it and I still can't join in

u need to look at the recruitment time. if its not the time yet then u cant participate.

In the bottom right of your screen there willbe announcements that certain Kingdom Quests are recruiting (if you are level 7~16.) What you do from there is click the hourglass symbol beside the minimap in the top right and scroll through the list until you find a Kingdom Quest that says Recruiting on the right-hand-side of the window. Then you can participate in that one.
