Hi all, this is Geezy the winner of the level 20-30 Solstice Survivor. I guess until a GM makes an official post, you can come to this thread to discuss this particular SS and possible ideas for new Solstice Survivor events.

I didn't take many screen-shots, because... well, I forgot, and I didn't think there was any chance I could win. But here are the screens I promised of GM rider trading me the items I won, and a screen shot with the details of the rare "record of beginner traveler" item.

And, just to keep myself down to earth, here is a picture of my n00b self from the first Solstice Survivor. I was actually in the middle of class when It started; I hoped I could get home in time to participate, but...

I arrived home to find myself long defeated (that's where the one "lose" point from my previous screens comes from, by the way)

Anyway, this thread is about discussing this SS, and different ways to improve the next SS! Personally, I would like to throw out a few ideas here myself to get things going. For the Solstice Survivor event, I believe that partying should not be allowed. I was actually in a party myself up until the very end, and it was quite unfair to anyone who didn't have a party... (right Sakura :P) This is supposed to be a free for all event, with only one winner, right? Then the entire event should be played that way; 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 etc etc.

Also, I don't know about the other events, but the use of potions in this event was a bit ridiculous. (I will admit that I brought around 200 hp pots and 100 mp pots, and I thought that was a bit extreme... I was wrong.) With potions only weighing 1 each, you could actually just weigh yourself down with around 1.5k pots if you wanted to, and just outlast everyone else. Perhaps a potion limit could be instituted for the next SS? Or perhaps a cool down period of some sort... because I could certainly see the next low level SS (if there is another one) going for hours due to this problem.

yay Geezy, way to go man

Thanks a lot... but of course, anyone who was there knows Sakura would have most likely won if my party didn't gang up...

And then right after that, I turned on both of my party members (since you can't win SS as a party :P) and my pots outlasted them both.

Thanks to all who showed up for this event, and thanks to the GMs (Rider and Motors in particular) for hosting it. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I probably would of ended up winning but whatever, in my mind I won a victory :D. I wasted most if not all of your 2 Rogue's Pots, and killed your other warrior all while getting ganked. Hehe, and I had a party....but they all died :*(. Oh well, grats on winning ^.^

Level was really rather irrelevant. Winning was mostly decided by who found good parties early on, and who had the most pots in all seriousness.

In fact, a person named Dagger was level 20 (or at least claimed to be iirc) and lasted into at least the final 10.

Grats, and I can agree about pots...
I brought about 150 red and 200 blue pots and survived very long despite half my team was wiped out. Too long it was like a small mob nabbing on me.

Then again you can talk about the lag and the ridiculous stun effect rogues got in pvp. In my case at least.

oops, didn't mean to imply that was my screenshot... I just borrowed it from the first SS thread. I just happened to notice that my afk self was standing there outside of the well formed line, LOL

geezy if it werent for those 10 people that ganged me when i was kickin your but you wouldnt have won so just thank god and pray when you go to bed and tell him thanks beacuse you wouldnt have been so lucky if it were 1 on 1
also i would like to suggest a pvp party tournament where you get a party of 8 people and who ever party is the winner of the tournament would all get prizes it would be much better then this betray and gang thing that is going on with this every man for himself

yeah for me the thing that made me die was the fact that i was lagging So bad i held the hp potion thing when i was attackin a fighter and only used 16 i then got killed by i think it was geezys party oh and rider told my party to move from the perfectly defencable corner that we were in next time someone of my party will win

The tactics I used to win this tournament (partying up, bringing quite a few pots) were all well within the rules; not to say that I wouldn't rather have faced all my opponents 1 vs. 1, but I did what was needed to win.

This is actually the main reason I wanted to create this thread... not to be all "ZOMG U N00BS I PWNT YOU ALL!!!" but to say "yeah, I won, but I'm not particularly proud of the way I had to win, perhaps we could change a few of the rules to make the Solstice Survivor more balanced". Anyone else have any feedback on how to make the SS even better?

Well all of these posts make me glad I didn't waste my time going to the event. Sole survivor events aren't supposed to include parties or who can carry the most pots as part of the rules.
They are supposed to be a place where people test their builds, equipment and skills up against other people, anything other than that and it is no longer a fair and even event.

If they want to continue these and make them serious events they should try and stop the parties and potting before it gets out of hand. Otherwise it'll just be party A and their pots versus party B who's also loaded on pots everytime.

That's exactly the problem in pvp currently, the damage you do is reduced to ~10%,
the heal of an acolyte too, but pots heal the full amount.
Don't even think about juice that heals 500 hp.

The issue gets worse in low level pvp because the damage everyone does is so low,
the event will take forever and a few days.
Getting mobbed is the only way someone could die, so it's really just a game of luck.

That aside, It would be nice to have a pvp event where acolytes can have a little fun too,
getting mobbed first is currently no fun.
Did I mention that a hp pot heals more hp than the heal of a level 50 acolyte?
