Hey everyone.
Basically after looking around here I've noticed people commenting on how they may (or may not) be having a problem due to using windows vista.
Well, here is a little bit of information you may want to use before cursing the OS that is Vista.
Vista can function as just about any other OS when you need it to.
An example: Right click on your Secret of the Solstice launcher and select the 'compatibility' tab, from there you can select the game to run as if it were another OS. I typically select a version of XP and this solves most problems I may have with a game.
Enjoy.

edit: nevermind i see it thank you for the help but it hasn't changed anything and i have the exact same problems still. I have done pretty much everything and followed everyone's advice and it still doesn;t work.

This is the video card of my computer: "SyncMaster 740N/179N, SyncMaster Magic CX721N/CX714N on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". What video driver should I use? I'm still having white boxes and black screen while in the actual playing. What/where should I download the needed drivers/video card? My computer has this label, "Intel Core2 Duo" (additional info)
Plz help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found a couple of things helped with performance:
One: Turn off the Sidebar. That tends to eat about 15% of your CPU cycles.
Two: Turn off Aero. You can do this on a temporary basis by right-clicking the shortcut, selecting Properties, selecting the Compatibility tab, and making sure "Disable Desktop Composition" is checked.
Three: Run SoS's Setup utility. You can tweak resolution, fullscreen, and other settings. I set it to my monitor's native resolution (windowed), but you may find the game runs better in fullscreen mode or in a smaller resolution.
A combination of one or more of those made SoS from "playable" (but with some odd music hiccups/frameskips to "smooth" on my laptop.
