Apologies if I've missed any threads pertaining to this topic(I did look for them)

I'm a little confused about the whole weapon skinning, it does really seem like a waste of time for low damage dealing characters like clerics.

I'm using a mace (lvl80) and it takes +/- 8 hits to kill 1 monster (damage max +/- 384)
A fighter at the same level using a 2 hand axe will do it in 4 hits as well as AOE any surround targets.
Even fighters using a 1 handed weapon are slightly disadvantaged however they’re still able to kill faster than clerics.

I'm assuming then that a weapon skin will last half the amount of time for a cleric and kill half the amount of monster than all other classes.

Am I missing something here, is this a waste of time for a cleric?

Pretty much, at least I think so. I won one from remi's so I used it, but I wouldn't waste the money unless you like... live in pvp or something.

Definitely, the longer you take to kill a monster, and the more hits needed, the quicker your skin will finish. You have around 25,000 points; one hit will decrease one point. It's really up to you to decide if it's worth it for you, and if you have the money to upkeep your weapon skin with repair kits. I must say, I love the way they look though ^^

10% may be a lot if you 30 maybe 40 lvl or below, but lets say i got 1500 on my weapon with +9 thats only 150 more dmg, in real world you wouldn't notice as cleric

Instead of Durability points perhaps it should have been kill points..

Fighter = +/- 6250 Kills per Durability 25 000 points
Cleric = +/- 3125 Kills per Durability 25 000 points

If it was based on kills it would be even across classes.

Another thing to keep in mind though, for us PARTY CLERICS, the skins can basicaly last indeffinatly simply because I almost never actually hit anything. And unless you are soloing all the time, you can actually enjoy the look of your skin without the loss of durability! So you take the good with the bad ^^!

Well before the skin, a night's work get me 6%. With the skin added I got 14% and used like 8K on the skin. You can do the math.

So if you earn the cash you burn, you can consider it.
