Cleric or Disciple?

That's fairly easy.

Do you want to be a support class? You'll level very slow if you're soloing as a cleric, so you'll need a party, unless you don't mind soloing and it taking forever. Clerics level pretty fast once they find a good group of people to party with.
Or,
Do you want to be a melee class? You'll be able to kill stuff and be able to heal yourself/others with Assist Heal, and you'll be able to solo like every other melee class.

I dunno. I'm sure someone else can explain it better; but it's basically a question of "do you want to attack or support?"

Taney did a pretty good job of explaining it. Once you hit about 45 or so as an aco, solo leveling becomes pretty unrewarding and the higher you go the more you need a good party to level with. Aco/clerics have slow relatively weak attacks, but they heal and buff and get some other interesting skills and if you are good at it you will be in demand.

Disciples are more independent. If you change at level 45 you might have trouble getting a party and have to solo a lot. You get a slow time-release heal, self buffs, and you can kill things faster and take more damage than a healer. If you like playing solo this is the better choice. Disciples can party, but it's easier for them when they get 66 because they can aoe and at that point become more popular.

You don't have to decide at 45. You can turn disciple up to the point you change to cleric. I would wait until at least 51 to change personally, it helps a lot to have time shield, which is a stun skill. Once you make either change though, that character is stuck there. I have both and like both, just depends on what mood I am in.
