Ok, so I noticed during the mini-event today that a lot of you had crashed or d/c'd with .bin errors. Let me give you some advice to prevent, if not reduce the amount of, these errors.

This should work with both Windows XP and Vista.

1. Download the manual Patch, I noticed that with wireless connections or just slow connections, the Patcher tends to have hiccups, and may down fully download all the components. The Manual patch is here http://www.outspark.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124286

2. I recommend increasing your Page Filing and Performance for your Windows Client, which is quite simple, and will reduce load times, and solve some of those pesky Lag issues. Go to your Control Panel, and click on the System Tab, then click on the Advanced tab. Find the Performance Box, and click Settings.

3. There is two steps here, first, Even though you make like the cool way your Dekstop Looks, all those nifty backrounds and colors and stuff you've done to it, actually slows down your processing speed if you don't have a Decent Processor (Core, Athlonx2, Dual Core, etc). So on the First Page on the Settings box which you've opened. Click Adjust for Best Performance, it'll make your Desktop look oldschool yes, but if you're a hardcore fiesta gamer, or tired of waiting 5 mins to load then disconnect, it's well worth it.

3 b. Ok, now your Page Filing. Click the Advanced Tab in the Same Settings Box you've opened before. Adjust performance for Programs, not backround services. Then, you'll see a Number below that for your Virtual memory, and Page Filing. Depending on what specs you're running, it should be Anywhere between 256, and just over 4,000. I recommend increasing it to about 3000 Minimum, and 4,000 maximum. This will allow your Computer to start off a lot smoothed, and Increase the amount of Beatings you can give it, by running Fiesta and whatever backround Programs (Like MSN, iTunes, etc).

You're going to do a Normal Reboot after you've changed these settings, and by the way, pressing the restart button on your Computer, is Not a good idea, as it doesn't save changes you've made usually, and over time wears out your Motherboard. Use the Restart Icon in your Start Menu after you've saved any information you had running beforehand.

4. Clear your browsing history and Temporary internet files. These take up space, and are unecessary to keep around unless you have files stored there, or pages you need to view on a regular basis. like pr0n. If you feel ambitios, and know a bit about computers, go download the trial version of TuneUp Utilities 2009, it saves the average person about 888.5 megabytes of Space, just clearing duplicate files and missing//unshared .dll files or Empty Folders and lingering Program files that are no longer required.

Also, as a Quick side note. Norton Anti-Virus is crud, like I mentioned in game. It takes about 60% of your virtual memory when it's running, and is over all a Giant Lag Creator. Find some nice Freeware like Avast, or ClamGuard, they both are Free, take Minimal Virt Mem. to run, and take up WAY LESS SPACE ON YOUR HARD DRIVE. (Norton being around 2gigs? and Both Avast and Clamguard being around.... 70megabytes Max?)

Hope to see you all in Game with less Whining and More Grinding!

Rock on Apoline. Rock On :D

Seems this error is a fiesta error, and not our computers. Seeing as how all those people with the "omg quad core 34903854398438583GBRAM!" computers are getting the bin error as well. Lag is a totally different thing.

Or better yet, basic de-lag technique:
Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup
Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragment, choose the HDD you use for downloads, gaming, etc, and Analyze, then run it even if it says you dont need to

If your RAM is low or youre experiencing the "Virtual Memory is low" error for Windows, you can portion a part of your HDD to be used as RAM. If you wanan try this feel free to PM me.

Also delete all the junk files youve saved, like the fiesta screenshots, etc, and run another Disk Cleanup.

>.> bin error and lag are two different things, just wanna make sure everyone knows that.. -cough-

I have athlonx2, and an Intel Celeron M(Crud) and I never have .bin errors (yes, there is more then one, .bin error is just a general term for "HAIZ I CAN'T DO DAT, I CLOZE ON YEW NOA" , not just the Recent ones Popping up due to the latest Patch), or lag for that matter.

So it has nothing to do with "omg2983472934 core processor" I'm guessing this is because I do maintenance on all 3 of my comps daily. I related the Lag to the .bin errors, because it seems to have some effect on them, so don't jump to conclusions thinking they are 2 different things. -cough-
Being as when users are lagging so bad, that their computers come to a Visible Hault, become unresponsive to the Task Manager, as well as any kind of action you take, because the Client can't load the next set of data files to open a new zone instance, and can't open the necessary files .exe files// system registry files to continue the client, or load a single certain graphic, because of the bummrush you're giving your processor and Unresponsive Fiesta Client//Game (=.bin error).

Like I said, it depends on the Computer Specs you are running behind the processor, such as an out of date driver for the Graphics card, or just a Computer that doesn't meet the minimum requirements to Run Fiesta (Which is the majority of the case a lot of times).

Look into that Tune Up utilities program I mentioned, It has an accelerated Defrag. program, so you're not sitting for 6 hours with a never before Defragmented system (more like 20 Mins tops). It also will go through and delete those junk files for you, with a safety feature to make sure you're not deleting System required files, or Programs that you might regret deleting later on, with it's automated Back Up Feature. Remember, the majority of the users are NOT Computer Savvy, they are just... Gamers who are looking to have fun on a great game. So Telling them to delete things themselves isn't a great idea, especially when it comes to touching anything in the C:\ Drive.

This Guide is Just to Improve your Fiesta Game Play, not SOLELY to fix the .bin errors.
I just used that in the title, because I Quoted it from my message In Game, because people were spamming me to repeat what I said, think of it as a Tag to the people who were Searching.

Research before Response.

Well as I was one of the people in-game 'competing' to have the most .bin errors in a short space of time (twice in 45 seconds, beat that!) I would like to say this.
I had one .bin error today after doing all the techy stuffs that you mentioned to do. Not bad seeing as I usually get 2-5 in a row after a first so something of improvement I guess. *Fingers crossed it stays that way*
However, although I dislike the XP look (so used to a Vista look) I will THANK YOU GREATLY for this. Load times are quicker, some lag at times but not to great extents as before (I can now use my rider in Eldy, without hiding characters/vendors, and experience less lag than before)
So, yeah, hopefully the .bin errors will be fixed, as I said in-game it only started with the recent patch. and if ANYONE tells me to reinstall the game and manual patch I will clobber you with my hammer >=O Unless you're 99-100% sure it will do something good for me. Reinstalling the game once to try and fix is hassle enough. Don't tempt me to put myself through that again. *coughs*
Anyway yeah, shame it didn't entirely help with the error messages/random closures (this happens less than actually giving me a message), but it was a great help for speed and mega-lag-monster.

Lollerskates.

Add me on the profile pages, then send me a PM concerning this topic. I'll talk you through it step by step, as long as It's not going to keep me from the beach (On my week long vacation in NC and SC in Myrtle Beach :D).

I'm happy it helped for some of you, even though it didn't solve ALL .bin errors, at least you can run around and not die from the aggro-able mobs and the zomg-Lag Monstuh!
