All right, I've decided to do something for the SoS community and help out.

NOTE: ALL INFO IN THIS SECTION MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE, AS IT IS JUST BETA RIGHT NOW.

Well, I will be updating it with experiences and thoughts I have with my own characters. (Right now just a magician and a rouge, so kind of limited.)

Also, if anyone wants to add anything they are welcome to.

Now, on to the guide.

GAME START:

Well, you start out at Lvl 1 (duh) and as a Xenian. Explore around the place a bit and get used to the controls. Note how it says you can type /h for help. Do it if you are new to the game, it is rather helpful. Go upstairs and teleport to town once you are ready.

For Lvls 1-10, there is a quest for each level. Meet the SoS Guardian Angel and talk to receive the quests. You won't be able to fight anything unless you get to lvl 10, so do the quests and explore around a bit to get yourself familiar with the town. You'll be doing a lot of things here, especially the first few or so levels. (I'm hesitant to give out concrete numbers, as my characters are 16 and 17, so yeah...)

Also, as people have mentioned, it is good to be putting points into POW for now, as it helps you level up much easier. You can stat reset once you change classes.

Once you are done with the quests, you should be Lvl 10. Read that Xenian Skill book and ready your potion hotkeys, because you'll be leveling up from monsters now. Oh, and talk to the SoS Guide, because you can get 50 milk from her, which are rather helpful since it is like a W Potion and a W Magic Water combined.

Walk south and eventually you'll reach the first monster area. It is populated by Green Slimes, Pocopocos (?), Makuris, and High Gellys. You may want to just fight around here a bit, get familiar with the battle system, etc. Anyways, I've found that stats don't really matter up to the class change, unless of course you disregarded the advice to put points into POW. If you didn't you'll be doing around 2-15 damage, depending on how you distributed the points, and you'll have a bit of a hard time fighting monsters.

You should be doing around 24-30, which is enough to hold against most monsters. Use the Xen skill and just lvl away, resting, fighting, etc. Pick up any Pieces of Jurea's Pendant you find, because you'll be needing those for the class change later.

For a quicker way through level 10-16, for those who want; Go south of the map on the square you start in, go through the next map and take the left map. Follow the next maps to encounter the monster called Pueco-Pueco(a blue furball, might have miss spellt.) and fight that thing only.

That is the strongest monster with best exp gain you can get at this point in the game, and it can't kill you directly. Be sure to heal when needed, and drink milk. You migh find certain other monsters on the way here to get pieces of the Jureah' to change class from xenian.

To get the pieces of the Jureah pendant, just keep killing monsters in Brynhilld Trisects and Waimea Gorge (to get here, go to Brynhild Trisects and there is an exit marked Brunen Basin on the map; then in Brunen Basin, go south to the exit to Waimea Gorge)....

To change classes, level up to 16 and have all the pendant pieces then go to Reinmoth in Arcarinas Square and click the option "Apply for class change"...she'll tell you to get the pieces of pendant even if you have them in your inventory already, so end the conversation and talk to her again (choose "apply for class change" again, then a new list will appear with the four classes; pick one to be teleported to the guild)....

talk to the guild master, reset your stats and unequip your items then raise the stats that are required for the class (the guild master will tell you how much you need to raise particular stats by)....talk to the guild master again to be changed and you'll receive new armor and a weapon and a skill book or two....

Nice to see people adding already. Good job!:)

Well, now, let's continue. As you level up with your Xenian, you should still put points into POW, especially if you did not before. Try to fight things with red names. Even though they are rather more powerful, they give better Exp compared to the easier monsters. Also, keep everything you get, except for equipment, because there are going to be quests to find things and it is going to make the whole quest much easier if you already collected some items required.

NOTE: If you are carrying too much stuff, you'll move slower and attack slower, so go sell some of the stuff you get. Equipment especially weighs a lot, so sell anything you don't need. Keep food items though, because they are your only alternative to potions and can be better in some cases.

Once you get to level 16 and have all four pieces of Jurea's Pendant, you can change into one of the four base classes! Now, class change is not required, I think, though it does give you access to expanded skill trees and better classes as you level up. There are areas that you cannot access without a class change, though I am not sure if it requires the class change or is a level limit kind of thing.

Anyway, there are four base classes. You'll probably have some knowledge of them, so I'll give out a basic outline of how things are right now.

Magicians: High power spells with range, but lower hp, def, and physical attack (You'll probably hit 1-2 with your weapon if you actually decide to attack a monster with your staff)

Rouges: Rouges are fast(-ish) and have higher dodging and movement. However, their HP seems rather low, though higher than a magician's. Probably around average attack power.

Acolytes: I think these guys are supposed to be healers and can buff people later. Useful for a party. I don't know much since I haven't made one.

Fighter: They are the front liners, with a lot of damage and HP. I can't say much more since I haven't made one yet either.

Please add info you have, especially regarding these classes at higher levels.

Once you are ready to change class, go into town and find Reimoth. She is right around the SoS Guardian Angel, so it shouldn't be too hard. Talk to her and you can change class, though if you want more information you can look at the info she has.

Now, choose your class, and Reimoth will teleport you to the masters of each class. If you picked Rouge or Fighter, you'll be staying in Brynhild, for the town contains the Thief and Fighter guilds. If you picked Magician or Acolyte (not sure about Acolyte, but likely), you will end up in Essene. When you talk to the heads of each class you they will tell you what stats you need to be able to change into that class. So, reset those stats and put them in the right places, unequip all the equipment you have, and talk to the class master again and you will change into the class of your choice.

Now you can get rid of all the Xenian equipment because you will no longer be needing it.

Now that I have talked about class changes, I will move on to experiences I have had with the classes. Since right now my magician is highest, I will devote this section to the magician class and edit in information later.

Well, now you are a Magician. Equip all that new armor and weapon and read the Lvl1 Magic Ice and Lvl1 Mind Buster skillbooks, reorganize your hotkeys, and get going. You are in Essene right now, so if you have the urge to explore, do it. It has basically the same stuff as Brynhild, though far more condensed. If you wish, you can exit the town and fight monsters like Curse Slime, Crown Slime, etc, but it is not recommended. While you can kill one of those aforementioned monsters one-vs-one, it drains your MP rather badly. Also, they tend to aggro you if you're not careful, and since the tend to do 45-60 damage, well, you won't be living long or you'll burn through potions like crazy.

Instead, you should probably use a return scroll and go back to Brynhild. If, in the event that you don't have a return scroll (The scroll tied with a green band), you will have to go out and try to get back to Brynhild the hard way: running through monster infested territory.

I only mention going back to Brynhild because it is a convenient base of operations, since the monsters start off easy and become harder as you range further away. In Essene its the opposite, so it would be suited for more higher level training.

Anyway, now comes the part where you just grind for Exp. You can't learn new skills until level 21+, and no new equipment either. So Just do some quests, kill some monsters, and enjoy yourself.

As for stat points, it is really your preference. POW is not much used, obviously, though it does increase your carry capacity, so if you really need it, put some points into POW. INT is useful to increase the power of your spells, but I'm not so sure about that one, since it seems to increase your magic by 1 per point, so I am not sure if it is a wise investment. AGI, maybe...I don't really see any point in it because the only really useful thing that does for Magicians is raise movement and skill crit, and you need some significant points into that before you see real gains. STA increases HP, and WIS increases MP. I suggest putting points into WIS, since more MP = more spells, but that is my opinions. Ultimately, it is up to you.

I will mention something here that you may find useful for leveling. With the ability to slow monsters with Magic Ice and hit rather high with Mind Buster, you can go the the Labyrinth and train there. The Labyrinth, reachable through the Labyrinth Guide, contains occasional monsters from Green slime to weird bug things called Burico that are like 30-40 lvls above you and can crush you in a few seconds. However, since they usually appear in 1s, you can use Magic Ice and Mind Buster to kite them for good exp. Killing a Burico will most likely drain you MP completely, and perhaps you may even have to use MP potions, but you get around 10-20% exp from it per kill, and when it's dead, you can simply rest up. You can also get higher level equipment and skill books from the monsters, which can be sold for high amounts of Kron.

NOTE: The higher level monsters are usually, if not always, aggressive and they can hit 70s, so be careful. However, dying is really part of the deal. The idea is to get more Exp than you lose on each trip. Of course, you can get unlucky and not kill a single thing, so it's a gamble that way. Note that Buricos can poison you, which is very devastating if you do not keep your HP up. If the Burico is closing in, the best advice I can give is to Magic Ice it one more time and run like hell and wait until the poison runs out. Also, if you meet more than one monster, unless one of them is a green slime, you're pretty much dead.

The fresh acolyte on level 16 clicks on his/her skill books to open up the spells "Healing Spell", used to heal people, "Illusion Quake", for low damage and "Spirit" for escaping a monster.

Spells and skills can't be casted in the red zones in the beginning and ending of each map, ever.

Acolytes are divine if you know how to utilize them in parties.

Acolytes level very slow if they are outside a party, so try join one suitable party when offered.

A general acolyte stays behind the lines in a party while others smack the monsters.
Your job is to use the skills Healing Spell(available at level 16) to heal those in need.

Buff(increase status for 3 minutes before re-applying) the fighters and rogues with Bless(available at level 21) to improve their defenses. Fist Up(Available at level 26) can be used on any class to improve their power. You can use bless on Magicians and acolytes, but they are low on the priority.

Even acolytes and magicians benefits from this as their magic spells(Illusion Quake and Healing Spell for acolytes) becomes stronger.

An acolyte benefits early from learning how to administer the hot keys(press F 12 to open this menu), and dragging the spells and blue pots to these buttons.

You can click on your party members' icons and press heal to much easier support rather then clicking on them instead. Just make sure they are not far away, as this command doesn't work if that's the case.

Always try to keep a big supply of Mana recovering blue pots in your inventory. Around 150 should do it to Mystra Hill and a bit beyond, to avoid getting burnt out after casting all the spell.

Have around 50 red pots or more around in case your party can't protect you at the moment from incoming monster attacks. Just try avoid the monsters if possible.

Try to be nice and cast buffs on people outside your party when it's safe, they might return the favor sometime in the future. Everyone appreciates a temporary boost or heal.

Try asking the party-leader to split items random in the party menu, as you the acolyte won't be up and grab goods a often as others.(These things are sold if you can't use them, for pots, scrolls and trackers)

Always carry at least 10 trackers for saving on each journey. Use one tracker at the red zone in each new area, if the area is being strong and can kill you easily.

For the most, an acolyte spends their skill points in Intelligence to boost the Healing Spell. A few points maybe applied to Wisdom to increase your mana pool for casting.

When you return to town you should sell all items you can't use for refunds in pots.
If someone in the party needs one of the items you carry; give it to them.
They may return the favor later.

Sorry about not updating much...kinda busy with end of term tests and stuff.:(

Anyway, I've been working on a map for the town + surrounding area, though they are just squares with writing on them right now. :p I am thinking I might photoshop them a bit.

Anyway, updating will continue, don't worry. I don't mind if no one looks much at it right now. Its growing.

Can i further add that a Mages Magic Ice and Aco's Illusion Quake slows anything to a crawl. So if u want a small party, 1 aco and 1 mage is all you need to take out most monsters unless they go mass agro on you.

With the Aco's Buffs and Mage's Magic Shield, coupled with the ice/quake combo, this long range strategy could tackle most monsters in red easily when it's 2 v 1. The mage can take a few hits too with magic shield, draining your mana rather then HP so keep you mana high with pots.

If faced with mass agro, aco's should spirit and mages ice the agro monsters and run till u can take them on 2 v 1 again.

For Acolytes, I bet it's fun dealing damage to monsters once in a while rather then healing all the time right?
