Will SoS Sink or Swim?

I've noticed the game's activity has decreased badly and as have the official forums and solstice player. From my experience thi is relatively common for games in CB then a whole new hype emerges when it's OB. Obviously people are either sick of the game or have left due to worry about the wipe (my guess).

So I was wondering your guy verdicts on this one. Does the game have what's required to be here in a few years time? Will be see several versions of SoS or do you think it will die before ever reaching a second version or major update?

Im sceptical(spelling?) about the games sucess as I am seing better alternatives. I love the game but small things like pvp lack Substance (pun intended) and I feelit may not have what it takes to please the western audience, now due to RO being released free in PH im not sure where this games fate lies.

Yea i feel ya on the PvP, but most of my friends in SoS have left because of the wipe, and they already lost the leveling contest due to lack of play.

So they just don't care for it until OBT, there should and will be more players than expected.

But yes, the PvP in SoS is just plain weak.

We need more options such as PK zones, anytime PvP when we want, not this event stuff (even though the events are still fun).

I thought it was OK... it's just that those kind of games (SoS and Ragnarok) are not the kind of games I usually like. I bet a lot of people would like it... but it was just so bland and boring to me. I got tired of using pots over and over and running out of MP so fast. (I was an Acolyte)

The full game has potions that heal more than 30HP/MP.

I guess we'll have to wait for OB.

I got to 30+ for the event and dont intent on going further.

Im crossing my fingers in the hope that it would swim. Then again if games like Seal-online / SUN or other interesting games that come out, this game might not sink but just flounder.

Beta is fun. Doesn't matter if it gets wiped or not.
My character got wiped in fiesta and I didnt even get the title.

I've been loving the game. I think as a game it'll do great but I will probably fall off after OB because it won't have the tight knit community feeling it has right now.
Two of my friends have left and I feel really bad and miss them. Pumps and D Flameheart, I will use everything you gave me in memory to you.
Jello, I think the PVP is just event form right now so the GM's can keep control of it. After the OB it might go full scale or location based. Fingers crossed, you know?

I still like it (for the fact that I don't have to worry about being cut off for not paying to play like I do for iRO)...but I think I'll keep my characters at around lvl 16 since they might wipe the beta characters anyway...for now, I'm just going around doing whatever quests I can...

I've been a member for like two days, but I have played a bunch of games. This is one of the few I really like! Despite the point it resembles RO It's still really well made, the monsters are great looking and the avatars are seriously adorable~ Hehe, I'm just waiting to see how they will spice up the game more after the Closed Beta!

I like it, and I think it will swim. There are obviously going to be people who don't really like it, but it's in its Beta stages right now, so you don't exactly have access to a lot of the features yet. I for one would love to see it swim. I know it can get annoying at times, especially with the MP, but its just part of the game. In any other game like this you run out of MP quite a lot. If you didn't, I think it would just make characters overpowered. I've seen that as a lvl 17 Magician you can kill monsters in the Labyrinth that are like 30 lvls above you and give 10% exp per kill, so if you could just blast them over and over it would be too easy.

Also, the one thing I really like is that I can play this in a window. When I have to rest or something I can just switch over to Word to do homework and write, which is cool. The wipe, if it comes, will come, and meanwhile you can gain the experience so you know where to level up and stuff so you'll have an easier time come full release.

Besides, there are plenty of people who love the game, so I don't think it will die.

The grind starts to hit about 3x when I admit it starts to takes around an hour or two to level 35-36 but hey! Who knows! This is with 30HP pots so I can haredly solo. maybe the exp will be better if we can actually heal ourselves significantly enough to survive.

I like the luckyball feature and I love the game's party system (Albeit I wish the game would run on my laptop but beggers can't be choosers).

Haha, in all i think that it will stay alive, due to the fact not all maps are open and much of the game is yet to be experienced. Unless you came here from the Jap or Korean then.... o.o;;;

The biggest HP/MP potions are 500 HP and 500 MP.

There are exp addition items. Some as high as 3x EXP. Cash shop items though.

Looks like a typical case of selfown.

If it's a total copy of Ragnarok Online it will swim, because Ragnarok does still swim
and SoS is free to play.

But seeing as your only 4 posts are "OMG, SoS is a RO copy!!!111" it seems as if you only
looked at a few screenshots.
Come back in Open Beta and look again.

Well you certainly didn't play it, the game dinamics are different to RO and the Character models are of higher quality and synchro.

The PvP is fun too, since unlike RO the damage is reduced to 1/10 and it takes a long and interesting battle to win.

Ya there is a 99% chance they will wipe because it will make players that were in the CB have a advantage over people who aren't in the CB like myself.

I like the game but if my character's wiped I'll just be frustrated and quit.

I know that may not be how everyone feels, but as a rogue it takes me over an hour to lvl and I'm already lvl 39...if I'm wiped I'm just going to download a different game to play :D

Most people will be frustrated and quit (Especially when u just reached lvl 66 and ur character just got wiped XD.)
I wouldn`t do that, because my characters arent close to lvl 30 and reaching lvl 26 will be a sinch as long as i have a party. :D

And I doubt the CBT characters getting wiped

I think SoS will Be ok, Im not saying it will be The best, (I think RO will still remain the Top Sprite Game) But will Stay here for a while to come, I just hope i get into it as much as i did RO

Here's a few pointers to educate and not get on anyone's bad side:

Too identical to Ragnarok
Very similar in many cases which brings to one of the greatest downfalls to RO, it is a constant, grinding game. To get to level 99 and further requires a
massive time spent on just grinding and very large party effort that just does'nt outweigh time spent to level advancement.

Closed Beta Reset
The reset will kill off most of the gamers because many didn't play it to report
bugs. They played it because they had a step ahead on the competition of
fellow gamers. They wanted to become something powerful in the game
community-wise. Many games have gone CBT to OBT without character
reset.

Lack of PvP
The number one killer for SoS is it's PvP system. Now, they might in later
patches or in the OBT might bring a system that we haven't seen yet but
this game is too similar to Ragnarok to get a definitive PvP system that
stands out on it's own. There is basically no player skill involved. It just
boils down to who has the better gear, more potions and who can spam
their skill faster. Same as RO, sad to say, no real player-maneuvering, skill
countering or whatsoever. Basically, SoS is a better and prettier version of
Ragnarok.

Oh and the majority of games have a wipe between CB and OB, even between OB and full release! Be thankful its just a level/item reset. When people joined they should have understood that the game was in Closed beta and the main point of CB is to find bugs and glitches within the game. They joined knowing there could be a wipe and should have been prepared for one.

Well, i cant argue with the lack of PvP. Your RO clone points still bother me though...
I expect a proper PvP system will be implemented later.

you have some good points there but you do know that SoS is using the same engine RO uses right? and yes it just finished CBT in which the point was testing it, so they could re adjust stuff here and there. I think SoS really looks promising so I really don't think it would sink.
