Hi guys, just a quick question ^^

I dont want to sound rude, but what is the reason for not being allowed to gift for money, I only started playing again last week and at first i got excited because i dont usually have access to SC but then i found out everyone wanted in-game money for their gifting services, and THEN I found out it was against the rules. So I would just like to know almost as a sort of consolation because i got really sad when i found about the rule. D=

I dont mean to cause offence, annoy or distress anyone in any way.

Thanks guys ^^

It's in as a safety measure.

You can't actually trade SC items in game; they have to be sent to the account and activated by the character who is going to use them.
As such, someone could easily scam someone out of hard earned in game money by claiming they sent the SC item when they actually didn't do anything, and demanding payment for the sent item.
It can also go the other way; someone who receives an SC item claims they didn't, so refuses to pay the gifter.

This may be a bit cheesy, but also, when you receive a gift, you don't expect any payment. Imagine all those kids having to pay for their own Christmas gifts from their relative XD

I can totally see where outspark is coming from. I believe I saw somewhere where people were using stolen credit card numbers or something to buy stuff that they then gifted for in-game money. Before that came to light, outspark seemed to have a "at your own risk" policy about things, much the same way they have about paying other people to enchance items.

Maybe I am way off base here

No, I think you're on track. I read somewhere that OS made this a rule BECAUSE the "at your own risk" deal wasn't working too well. I'm guessing that they received so many complaints about not getting their money or item, and it got to the point where they were sick of the same things happening again. So this turned from "at your own risk" to something more against ToS.

You do still see shouts about people gifting for money, but it doesn't seem to be strictly enforced (otherwise it wouldn't be as common to see those type of shouts). You do, however, see people shouting back replying that it's against ToS.
