Tolerance and Intolerance? I'm confused.

I've been playing the game for about 6 weeks now (And I've played several other games before this one) but there is a unbalanced level of tolerance in this game. It might be in other games too, but being as I don't play any other atm, this is the first I've noticed. What am I talking about? Well I, and others, have posted links about what to be done with cheaters and spammers, and I'm surprised at the level of tolerance of such actions. People are like, "Boot them off, but please don't start banning accounts over it." WHY?! Do you moonlight as a spammer when you get bored, or do you use the occasional cheat bot? I don't understand the tolerance of such actions.

Then there's the flip side...

You'll be doing a Kingdom Quest and someone might be making mistakes and people ridicule them endlessly for it and leave them dead. No forgiveness. Or, and I see this more than anything else, some poor guy(or gal) will have a question they need answered and all they get is "NEWB" "Stupid Noob". That's if they get an answer at all.

So it seems like we are tolerant of blatant violation of the rules of good conduct and fair play and will allow cheaters and spammers to keep their accounts and just log right back in and continue what they were doing before. But, we leave the players who might need help or a little guidance to rot in their own misery. What kind of community is this? Am I the only one that sees it? What's the justification behind either motive? Why leave a new player with no help but not ban a gold spammers/cheaters account?

If you have an answer for this, I want to hear it. Either way.

I agree with you, I have noticed it. People need to read my proper etiquette guide. You complain that they can't do anything right. Well if you tell them they might do something right. Stop calling poeple noob. Its harsh and you know what it might be an 11 year old playing this game. It might be a 70 year old man. Just grow up people and help. Yes gold spammers need to be banned and so do botters.

That's why I made a collage of gold-sellers via Paint and sent it to GM_Steam. :D

To point: it's not that people are intolerant of new people and tolerant of cheaters; it's that people are intolerant of noobs and inured to cheaters. Basically, it means 1) people get tired of lower-levels doing stupid things which affect them, regardless of the low-level's actual intelligence, and 2) people get used to the gold-loser's message which doesn't affect them that much.


PS: I decided 20 seconds ago to always call them "gold-losers" because "gold-spammers" implies they're doing their job correctly. xD

i agree with you knight. ive only been playing this game for a few days so yes, im still a "newb" (not to be confused with "noob", im new to this game, not a socially inept ignoramus). i was surprised at the amount of hostility and name calling ive seen. but yeah, i always approach it as: you cant expect much from uneducated people. they probably dont know better hence they act like that.

as for the spamming... ive seen it at other games as well. ive yet to play a game that has had this problem and solved it. obviously, spamming gold selling sites should equal an IP ban, no if's, and's or but's about it.

is the chat app bugged though? because i sometimes see legit players on normal chat in town, whilst talking to them, and from time to time, a spammers text appears above their head instead.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'd really be interested in hearing an opposing view, because I know they're out there and I want to know what the justification is for it.

I agree with you, but i can try to make an opposing view.

First off the gold spammers can stay because that is less people on the server actually trying to get into a KQ.

It is just them typing. ITs not hurting your gameplay.

The new people(noobz(i hate that word)) will bring mobs to me and make me lose exp which took a long time to gather.

THey can just figure it out like everyone else who figured it out.

UMM...They get mad at us for trying to help(some like help and some don't)
