newb question on KQ and quests

hi, im a lvl 15 cleric who still has yet to finish the 3rd kq quest (the one where you have to defeat the king and queen slime). i have participated in about 3 kqs and still have not succeeded in finishing this quest. does this mean that my character has to actually be the one who has dealt more damage to the mob? if im in a party with the tanker and we do considerable damage, if im the only one doing quest, do i still succeed? can someone help me out on the mechanics of quest kq?

also, on a side note, are there level limits as to until what level you can do certain quests? (i know kq quests are only until lvl 16, thats pretty obvious, but the other item gathering / monster killing quests?)

more damage/ last hit <--- one of these things

you mean my character has to deal most damage or be last hit? thatd be hard to do with a cleric... especially since i doubt 14 people would stop fighting and risk their necks so your frail measly mace can be the last thing that hits the slime king.

It counts as a group thing. So if a person in your group gets the last hit in, then everyone in the group would get the count towards the quest.

thanks for clearing that up. however, if they arent doing quest or is finished with it, but our group still had last hit, would it still work?

i find it weird that last hit and not most damage gets quest success. itd be sad to think of the tankers and others who grind hard to not complete their quest because someone decided to slack off the whole way and just jumped in at the last second to take the last hit.
