My xp reads 840/277 lvl 8 current 243% of the required xp or lvl 9...any info on this subject???

Did you just get out of a KQ and it said that?
Try killing a mob and see if it fixes it.

The game is set to only level you up one at a time. Kill slimes and you will level up after each kill until you have caught up with the exp.

Kill a mob or complete a quest and the extra experience carries over into the next level. If you still have experience left over again in that level, repeat the process and you'll eventually even out.
