I have found many overpriced stores since Closed Beta. Either scam stores or overpriced, but neither helps get you money or lots of itmes. So after seeing all them, I have decided to make a good detailed guide on how to avoid it. **This guide is not finished yet at all. I will be able to finsish it when Fiesta comes back up, but for now I will add the basics.**

The Hidden Silver
Usually these shops are called something like “Cheapest Scrolls!”.
When you click they have scrolls that look to be really cheap, for example 60c for tier 1 vitality scrolls, but upon closer inspection you see that its 1 silver 60c.
No one in their right mind would pay a silver plus for tier 1 scrolls, and as I keep seeing the same merchants do this day after day, I can only assume that people are buying them not noticing that it’s 1 silver 60c+. ~by Liala
Tricking newbies
Another troubling trend is the vendors who set up purchase shops in newbie areas with titles like “Right click everything here!” Setting their purchase price for things like SBL and TM for 1 c, well below NPC purchase price, praying on new player’s inexperience to make profits for themselves. ~by Liala

Hey I am glad someone is finally doing this, because i must agree that it is so bad, and unfair to those who don't know any better. If you would like help with anything on this guide feel free to whisper me in game if I am on. My main characters are Gobbles on Teva, Inomine on Teva, and Inomine on Apoline (thoug rarely on Apoline). So if need help just ask I am more than happy to help in this endeavor.
Sorry if you wanted to reserve the first few posts for future add-ons...

I agree with the scamming. I mean i buy dust for 5c only. I sell elrue[1] for 50. I don't overprice anything. I say 5c because it is an easy number to count how much money you will make and it is higher than the npc. I can't get dusts because of the lvl i am. SO i buy the old dusts create the elrue and sell them. I get a little profit each time but i do get a profit. I am mainly doing this to make my skill lvl higher. I see people selling copper lumps for 130 c. What is teh point of it. I don't see one and buying stuff for 1c when someone could triple that at the npc is stupid.

As a test, I sat in Roumen with a stack of Elrues priced at 35 C.....I think I sat for about two minutes, right in the middle of a BUNCH of players and purchase and sale stores.....sold out.
However...I saw many players priced at 50....the dang merchant sells em for 2 silver 7c.....WTH? If they price em THAT high, why do the merchants only offer 13c for them? Talk about a skewed economy.
Merchants should offer a MINIMUM 10% value for them....how about 25c?
Gee whiz!

The reason why merchants offer much less for items it because players can calculate if it's around 5c per dust, and 9 dusts are needed, it should be over 45c. I think this is high just because dusts are so easy to get. NPCs don't offer much at all. Lvl 30 armor sells for 1s at npc (or 2 I forgot ^^).

If you are curious about more examples for scamming then have a look here:
Unscrupulous vendor practices (http://outspark.com//forums/showthread.php?t=16655)
Old Dusts (Tier 1 no border)
Average Price: 5-20c
NPC Price: **Later Update**
NPC price for each dust is also 3c.
Xir[1] isn't mentioned yet. The recipe for Xir[1] is 3 Lix[1] + 2 Copper Ore (mid quality) + 1 Topaz. It should be priced with 600c - 900c. Perhaps a bit less. ;)

I never knew the existence of this hidden silver until I saw this post. ^^; And only after that did I realize people doing it in Elderine so I have no clue how many times I've fallen into their traps because I just never check my money after buying these things. D: *headdesks*

Is there a way to report these scammers? Like get them busted? Or do we just have to rely on ourselves?

Last time I almost got scammed with the hidden silver trick I screenshotted the store and PM'd it to GM steam on the forum. Not sure if anything ever came of it or not.

Nice guide,
In Rumen you also see alot of purchase store saying like ''Buying SBL 100c!''
Most ppl just sell right away, But then you see you only get 1c a SBL.
That happen to me once when i just started :P
Just wanted to share that ^^

Hmph, I kinda like tricking noobs. I mean, it happened to us all at least once didn't it. Also, its your fault if you are too much of a fool to check a shop's price against the NPC and other shops. Its just common sense to look around first. I think that if a noob is too lazy to actually try and figure out how the game works and its prices, then let them get ripped off. Besides, its these ppl that are always doing dumb things in KQ that cause you to Fail, so I say, let the noob be a noob.
