Enhancement questions

ok I got the basics - I've gotten my cheap level 15 bow up to +4 using a buncha elrues and a lix (got lucky on that one :D). So here's the question. At the bottom of the enhhancement box are 3 squares you can't put elrues in - blue, gold, and red. what are they for?

on a possibly seperate question - I've seen and gotten one or two of lucky and blessed elrues (probably lixs out there like that too...) do these increase your chance of success? can you use them in conjunction with regular ones to up the odds that way? are they a guaranteed enhancement, or possibly enhance them +2 at once? Have one and scared to use/waste it.

I believe the blue, gold, and red slots will be for premium items. I remember reading something about that - where they protect it from breaking and whatnot.

I'm not 100% on this but I believe blessed elrues/lix/xir reduce the chance of the item breaking and the lucky elrue does give a chance to add +2 instead of one -- you get a little song and all if it succeeds.
