Tank mean you protect your teammate by getting hit from monster instead of letting it go attack your teammate.

Yep, right on the dot. Also just for a more descriptive wording...
Tanks are those who take the hits for there team-mates. In this sense, Tanks main attribute is not only thier mass abundancy of stamina (Hit point/ Life points) but also there pride in defense as well.
-Note that because the Clerics can allow themselves to obtain more stamina, and have the benefit of healing themselves, they can easily substitute as a minor tank, so long as that Cleric holds agro and does not have to heal other party members in the process of tanking.
Agro: The ability to keep the opponent on YOU, and to not let its attention slip to other team mates.

It's also short for aggression.

The tank class has the job of being a human shield for the more fragile members of a group. In fiesta the tank is the fighter. Tanks have skills to make the monsters attack them and they have the high defense to survive it. Mages die in about 3 hits to normal monsters. You can imagine how bad they'd get curbstomped if a boss attacked one. That's why the tank gets the boss to attack him so the mage can use his good damage to kill it in safety while the healer keeps the tank alive. This is commonly referred to as the holy trinity. The main 3 roles in an MMORPG group. There are other minor roles too. The hive keeper in asheron's call 2 or the bureaucrat in anarchy online are good examples of a crowd control class, one of the more common minor roles.
