k, so i've perused the forums, and i have a good idea what things are, but i'm never happy with guessing, so i'm wondering if people have actualy solid answers, rather than theories :>
This here block list thingy, is there a maximum number of people that i can have in it? and what's with the greyed out names.
my personal 'guess' is that they were removed from the game (gold spammers and such).
and now to my personal rant about spamming...
gold spammers only really take up a whole 1% of the spamming that goes on in towns. frankly, if i see the same thing typed 5 times in my little chat room, that's more than spamming and it gets a block. if noone sold you a GoC hammer 8 seconds ago, or 7 seconds ago, or 6 seconds ago or 5 seconds ago, or 4 seconds ago, or 3 seconds ago, or 2 seconds ago, or 1 second ago, what makes you think they will sell you one now?
all it does is annoy, and fill up the chat screen. and it gets even more annoying when 20 people are doing the same thing. just ask every now and then, not every time shout lets you say it twice.
and if you're selling stuff, just open a store, and advertsise once in a while - there's a few hundred people in town, if everyone spammed their wares every 3 seconds, it would be really laggy there (imagine that, cause then people would complain about lag in towns, shock, horror, etc)
so, i block them, i always have - that's my choice, and i know i'm not alone. but to those of you that actually do it, you may wanna think twice - now block is permanent, it means i only have to block you once, and then i don't see you ever again. now, i'm a cleric, and guess what i get asked to do a lot in towns... on more than one occasion, i've been asked by someone else why i won't buff a certain person when they keep asking me, cause 'they are asking politely' - and the simple answer is that they filled my screen with something about their GoC axe they were selling 2 days ago, and got blocked, and so, no more buffs from me.
i'm only 1 cleric, i know me not buffing her isn't the end of the world, but high level clerics already get annoyed with rude requests for buffs, and all the higher lvl players are already annoyed with excessive spamming in shout - so think carefully before you annoy all the clerics. you may never get a buff again!!
and it's not just clerics - i've been in a party with someone doing a quest, and couldn't see what they said - i've been asked to help people with their quests, which i enjoy doing, but, i can't see them ask anymore. all the classes tend to party, or help each other, but if you annoy people, you'll be soloing for a looooong time.
did i rant enough yet? or will i see elderine getting worse.
and seriously - i block about 30 spammers in elderine for every 1 gold spammer - saying that spam is only coming from the gold spammers is so very not accurate!!
and to those people who are 'friends' - yes, even you got blocked if you were spamming, so if you want me to be able to see you, you better get a friend to beg for you. there's enough drama in this game without spammy poo, so learn your lessons.
hopefully other people will learn from the few that just never learn anything and think they are the center of the epith universe.
anyway, answer my two questions, try not to be mean and nasty to specific people in this thread, and make me a strawberry milkshake !!
