So as a Photoshop lover and overall digital media enthusiast, I love the idea of forum siggies. And I was wondering the other day, what are the components to make a perfect signature?

This is so totally subjective to everyone's personal taste that I couldn't resist posting the question here.

So folks, what makes a forum sig good, great, better, best, and perfect? (If you think you can show us better than tell us please, by all means, post any image you like (within reason)).

>.> don't let me catch anybody flaming others in here- beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I like your siggy, alot. ^^;; But, the components to make...a perfect signature really is imagination...@_@;; Lol, do I sound like a nurd? Sry, its 1 am here...>>;; anyways, the balance of the objects on the signature, the way you pick the color, and....practice and experiance. If you don't like your skills that you have, just keep trying. At the end, you are ought to become a expert siggy maker x3~ GL...![edits]
Oh andandand, I forgot to mention...one important thing.........To improve, you also need friends that encourage you. When I first started, I thought that I was really good, but I was...horrible...at siggy making >_____>;; But, people kept saying that my siggys were very good and told me to keep making them.....>> so....I improved a lot. Except...that I'm really lazy these days...and...as you can see, my signature...is a bunny that I found online @x@;; Lol....

Well i like unique siggies that r eye catching O.o. dun think it rly matters on the skills of photoshoping, i rly like the siggies that are very different from the others, like very good ideas that just make u go "wow" wish i thought of that XD
Of course, is personal taste rly, but i think ppl tend to like colourful and mystical-ish siggies ;3. so light effects is probably important >.> then again, just my opinion :3
also make sure the colour will blend good with this background colour >.<, i avoid using black a bit cuz it tend to stand out too much, and purple seems to look rly blendy ~x3
>.< well heres one i made. not rly perfect or anywhere close but :X just girly stuff that suits my taste ;p

Plushie that's a beautiful sig, and it brings to mind a few factors that really seem to make the difference between a good sig and a great one:

~transparent layers: flowers hanging off the edge of the core graphic
~ a visual avatar: this is huge imho because it let's other forum users stick a face to your writing

Some other things I have noticed from sigs that add to the "eye catching" appeal:
~3D effects like drop shadows, bevels, and embossing.
~imaginative, creative brushes <-- these are soo important omg, taking the time to browse through the volumes and volumes of free brushes online is definitely worthwhile and beneficial to any piece of art, sig or otherwise.

Thanks for the ideas guys... more suggestions, examples, thougths, ideas?

I like seeing anybody who uses original artwork in their siggy rather than prefab brushes, patterns, renders.

Yeah, I think people often abuse the prefab brushes (guilty face); there's no substitute for original work that's for sure.

But I'll stand by my previous statement- brushes are essential to a great siggy. For one because they'll save most people a great deal of time, but two because sometimes browsing through others' work can provide the inspiration to go ahead and make that perfect sig.

^^ thanks for the input Poisoned.
