Spam chat? Spam chatters?

I havne't seen any actual 'spammers'. All I see are people int he center of the main town trading/chatting. In almost every MMO, there is always a main town where everyone meets up to trade/chat and just fool around when they aren't playing the actual game.

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what you are saying, but as far as I know people with shops up saying "Selling +1 acolyte items" or "Looking for friends" is fine.

Also, Spamming can be defined as typing something that is not understandable or unreadable or using overly excessive character repetitions.

Now, my form of spam may be different than yours, but from what I've noticed on other MMO's/Forums/Chat rooms, the rule for spamming is usually as I stated above or around that.

Are the players sitting around just talking about nothing to each other on this list of Spammers?

what im refering to are people using shop titles to post website names and they leave it like that for days on end (obviously not actually playing the game) and spam chatters being people who have their character automatically saying the same website name every five seconds or also obviously not playing just have their character sitting there on some timer or something like that

i suppose a better term would be advertisers

Sorry that i reply to another game (Flyff) but there is another channel for them. I think it should be exactly the same here. And a time limit, for example 10 identical messages for minute. It's working in Flyff, so why not try here.

sounds like a great idea just hope the admins see your suggestion and they should delete those characters with those advertisement shops cause its obviously easy to catch them

I personally haven't seen any of this, and I doubt advertisers would be that stupid. It's pretty obvious this is a closed beta, the odds of them making any cash out of it right now is slim to none. I'm also a bit confused because you said this earlier;

when i try to make a comment on it and get this all i get is the spammers saying "we have the right to spam"

I mean, I'm not disagreeing with people who are advertising sites need to be taken care of. I'm just confused as to exactly whats going on, since you seem to be contradicting yourself.

Thank you for the clearification. I was worried we might actually be upsetting people.

to clarify i was quoting the response i got from the person who was adverrtising their website i complained to them about filling the chat window with spam and they said "i have the right to spam"

also its not sites for them to make money at least as far as i know most of them seem to be fan sites which is nice and all but theyre still using the game in a way that its not meant to be used

I had my first encounter with a Spammer last night. He was trying to buy or sell (I don't remember) a red Lucky Ball. He was flooding the whole chat box with text, using ~ to fill in where spaces or blank area would be. Then, after being asked by several player to stop spamming, he began flaming my group. It was very rude.

I think SoS needs more of a report button, instead of an ignore button. I actually like the Runescape report system, if they ever actually payed attention to it. It's a very good idea IMO.

I also saw someone spamming a website in Acarinas Square, and while one person was only mildly annoying, if there had been 5 or 10 people doing it, it would have been really bad. I just wanted to voice my support to measures to limit chat spam-- not just of websites, but perhaps to prevent chat griefing before it arises, such people just spamming the same thing over and over to fill up the chat boxes of everyone around them on purpose, as I have seen in other games from time to time. :(

I'd like to see an improved method to catch this. It's disrupting to other players and a major annoyance when someone copy-pastes the same line dozens of times so you can't see ANYTHING else in the chat window.

I haven't tested blocking yet, will need to see if that mutes them in Chat.

Would be neat if a detected spammer lost the ability to communicate at all for 10 minutes for each offense (+10 minutes per offense that day, reset 24 hours after the last offense).
