For all those who don't know, tomorrow is a predicted date for the release of the infamous worm "Conficker". This worm is really nasty and is extremely hard to remove from your computer. Make sure that your windows version is fully updated and patched, don't underestimate how powerful this worm can be. It has the potential to do tons of damage to a great number of people. A ton of computers can be controlled by a group of hackers and once that happens they can basically do almost anything. Everything can be lost, credit card numbers stolen, as well as passwords.
Check your virus protection and make sure every single thing is up to date. If you have a program that has an add on that ranks a site's danger level, don't visit anything out of green. Basically what I'm trying to tell you guys is to be on alert. Don't do anything risky because once Conficker grasps you, it's near impossible to get out.
Be safe guys, please try your best to stay infection free.
EDIT: Do a scan today to make sure that you no traces of anything harmful on your computer.

Actually, about a dozen plus organizations, mainly top Anti-Virus Protection companies have joined forces to figure out how to stop the latest variant of the virus (which generates 50000 domains across 110 TLDs DAILY and reports back to only 500 of them for further instructions, making it harder for the people working against it to track it).
Microsoft Corp. itself has a bounty out for the creator of the virus, standing at $250,000 USD.
Those infected with the virus are only suffering from symptoms; the actual virus is like a time bomb and goes off tomorrow, on April Fool's Day.
Back on Oct. 23, 2008, Microsoft released a critical security update for Windows: MS08-067.
None of this is happening to the majority of Windows users that are following 'automatic' recommendations for critical security patches. If you don't auto-update, you're in some doo-doo lol.

Yeah, the best defense against the worm is simple; research and take action.
Y'all might be surprised to hear that computers belonging to the Federal Governments and military branches of the French, German, and British countries have been infected. That's how big and complicated the virus is.
If you have a disabled windows updater, now would be the perfect time to update.
The best way to tell if you have the virus is if you cannot access anti-virus vendor sites.
Mac computers and Linux users won't be effected.
Also, I forgot to mention, I think this topic goes in the Off-Topic section (any CL's around?), but considering the importance of it, it might be left here.

I wanted to post information, but I couldn't. I'm pretty tech savvy and I'm not sure how to completely dodge this thing. Because the pages it take are generated semi-randomly I'm confused as to where to and where not to go. Like are they targeting sites that begin with the letter "T", who knows >..>. If they are semi-random, then there has to be some sort of setting that triggers a site to be added to the list.
When I think about it, the coding for this thing is more than enormous. Like allycore said, make sure your automatic updates are on.

There's also been an issue with a Bogus program, as far as I know it runs itself through Flash, and it opens an authentic looking window for a program called 'Malawarebytes'
It's a fake, ignore it and don't install it. It's tricking you into thinking that it's really a Mal ware removal program called 'Malwarebytes'
Also, just be careful about what you download, and if you have any windows updates, install em ^^:
Also, Don't enter your Credit card details into any 'installations' unless you KNOW what it is. ^^
Good luck to all of you.

that means your computer is not infected by the virus because the virus actually blocks access to that site.

If you can access any ant-virus websites, you should be clear from any virus on the computer, as I previously stated, but it also doesn't mean you can't get it.

What fool would neglect to use auto-update, anyway?! It is such a simple matter to install the updates that even an eight-year-old could do it! In any case, I have an excellent anti-virus system. I will certainly not provide the link, but just do a search on Google for malwarebytes' anti-malware. No thanks are necessary; I am happy to be of assistance. Good luck.

Some updates are unnecessary, but some are critical. You'd be surprised to know how many people turn auto-update off, and some who turn it off and know what they're doing; they simply forget.
EDIT: And thanks Shadowic for moving the thread :p
