Novice quest to Summerhill street Brynhill Armory

After getting the novice sword from armory. When you equip it before returning
to the SOS Guardian NPC, she doesn't recognize that you have the sword
and keeps telling you to go retrive it from armory. You actually need to dequip the sword to proceed with the quest. It shouldn't matter if you have the sword in inventory or equipped, the NPC should recognize in both cases, that you already have the sword.
