A couple of questions

Seeing as how I haven't played in a long time I thought I would come back to the forums and check it out. I'm seeing a lot of bad things though and I would like to confirm a few things if people are willing to help.

1. Is the SC items highly imbalanced compared to normal items? (looks like it but I would like some honest insight before play again)

2. Lots of spammers still? or is it still just in the beginner town mostly?

3. Community, I keep hearing really bad things about the community outside the forums is horrible. Are a lot of people in the game really that bad? >_>

cash items enhance your character, so of course they would create a more powerful character, that should go without saying.. but not all cash items are for character enhancement.
but if you plan on pvping a lot, the people who do spend lots of $$$s on stuff will probably get the better of you - not always, but mostly.
to pve though, they make it a little easier, but it's not like you can't keep up with someone who is charmed up to the poo

that depends on your definition of spammers - the 'illegal' gold spammers in the towns kinda go through spurts, sometimes none for a few days, sometimes 2 or 3, maybe even 4 in a day - it's easy to block them, so it's not like they are that much of a hinderance. now, people who open a store, then spam every 5 seconds that they are selling what they are selling, is getting overwhelming in elderine, and it's slowly making it's way to uruga - i block many more actual players for being silly with their spamming than i block gold spammers.

the community is what you make of it. there isn't a community online anywhere that doesn't have it's drama queens, and immature people picking fights for the sake of it - but there are far more players in the game that just want to play the game and enjoy themselves and make new friends.
if you choose friends that are drama queens, or think they are the shiznizz and get all arrogant, and then throw their toys out the pram when someone betters them claiming the sun was in their eyes or something, then yes, you'll be in a bad community - but if you pick your friendsly wisely, and just ignore the trouble makers, it's actually a very enjoyable community and a great place to meet people while playing your game.
the re introduction of the perm block list was a wonderful thing, and most of the trouble makers who just pick arguments for the sake of it never grace my chat window, for example

i suggest you give it a try, cause it's all about how you feel about people and things, rather than listening to ppl on the forums - what i consider good, others won't, and there's plenty of trolls in the forums who just have negative attitudes about every single aspect of the game. you know the type, they win 8 million in the lottery, but whine and complain because it wasn't 10 million.

Ah thanks for the fast reply. I did expect the SC to enhance your character just not overwhelmingly. I don't have a problem with spending money every once in awhile so I just wanted to make sure really.

Good to hear. I almost never talk in towns when that kind of thing is going on anyway, never in town long enough so that shouldn't be a big deal.

Okay I was sorta expecting that sort of reply for this =P but you helped me a lot. I'll begin downloading the game now and hopefully I'll be able to get into again. The games really simple but it was one I could really get into the first time I played a long time ago. I've been back several time already off and on since OB with different accounts ( I forget.....a lot)
