I cannot use the sword I bought, even though I have done the requirements on the sword. :(

Ahh yes... I think I may know what the problem is. The title is given to you at level 20, and opens up a few new things.. but.. you cannot use any of the clever fighter skills or equipment until you do the lv 20 job change fight your clone test thing in the dungeon. Check your quest log, and make sure you complete that, then the sword will be wieldable.
